I agree whole heartedly. I think it has become cheaper not have good scripts and they think people will still come for the eye candy. Then they wonder why they can't get butts in the seat, thinking higher priced movies in 3D will make people want to go to the cinema. (I actually blame part of...
I hate to be the cynic, but like it or not, movies are commercial products. Yes there is an art in creating them, but if you want to watch pure cinema art... go to a film festival. The amount of money involved in making a high end hollywood film demands that it have commercial viability. I...
You can't be serious. I mean really, the CGI was used quite sparingly, and it was well done when it was used. The characters were the center of the story, I don't know how you can feel that it wasn't.
Loved it. Best movie in a long time. Makes me wish JJ was at the helm of Indy 4. In fact there is one scene that is very indyesque.
SPOILER:**********************************************
When the dad/depudy steals the air force uniform, shoots the truck for a distraction (huge explosion)...
I've been an Indy fan since I was a wee lad. I probably saw Indiana Jones before I saw Starwars. I've been lurking on this board ever since I've heard the roomers that an Indy 4 was in the works. I had always wanted more Indy films. I'd say this is my biggest anticipated film since SW EP1. I...
I was amazed at how clean and crisp the images was on screen when I first watched digital projection, especially animation. Digital projection is not really HD, it can be higher resolution. There are two standards. 2K (2048x1080), and 4K (4096x2160).
I just sent an email to my local theater to...
I believe 1080p is 1920 x 1080, the number in the name always refers to vertical resolution.
And for the Genesis camera:
The Genesis uses a 12.4 megapixel CCD chip, arranged in a 5760x2160 horizontally RGB filtered array. The vertical resolution is cut in half to 1080 by pixel binning, so the...
Then I would stay out of the theater if I were you. Film is much higher resolution than HD.
I would like to point out that most big budget movies around here are now shown digitally.
The lack of sets in the SW prequels probably led to some of the stiff acting we saw as well. Motivation! Motivation! Shame on Lucas for not seeing how stiff it was.
Yeah, and I thank the movie god's for that. If you guys want to see too clean/plasticy, watch episodes 2 and 3 of Star Wars. I loved the dirty grungy feel of the original 3.
Who ever thought the name Mutt would be a good idea should be :gun:
If it was Lucas, I think Spielberg should jump in like he did with changing Smith to Jones.
These days those model could be replaced with composited real footage. That would be my choice. Camera motion matching technology now is amazing.
As far as his instruction to Michael Bay, that confirms my previous statement that Spielberg likes to do stuff with the camera as much as possible...
Just a slight correction, ray tracing is only a method of rendering. I would be willing to bet this method isn't used in most high end film 3d animation. (3d animation is the more general term) In fact most likely they use a proprietary rendering engine. Sorry I know it is picky but I actually...
Yeah, you know, the type of CGI that I was slightly worried about that I didn't want (and looks like won't be in the movie) is this:
1. The whole of spiderman while swinging on his web.
2. Neo in the Matrix where he fights off copies and copies of Agent Smith.
3. Starwars Episode two, where the...
Completely agreed. People don't realize that the equipment used to make the effects in the 1980's probably isn't even in commission any more. All of the effects even if they are filmed, are still composited digitally.
