I'd especially like to see the previously unreleased photos.

"The Sword Trick" is really cool, this set is so filled with awesomeness that you could use it against Chuck Noris as kryptonite.

Not that it has to do with the music itself, which is great, but I'd love to see in that booklet some really rare photos and not the same old we've seen so many times.
You've got a point here, BUT:

There _are_ extremely rare photographs in there (I know a bit about them, since over the years I have been collecting over six hundred pages of magazine articles, lobby cards and about 13 books on Indiana Jones):

My favourites are the track listings in the booklets w/ an iconic image of Indy in each one of them:

Granted, the Last Crusade one is pretty common, I'll give you that.

BUT the Raiders one of Indy looking down on the Well of the Souls dig is quite rare AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE (together with the music on disc two ;-):

The closeup of Indy in the Indian village I haven't seen before. SO COOL. wow. :gun:

BTW: In the first pages of the Indiana Jones handbook there's a similarly cool, rare photograph from Raiders where he's standing in front of the waterfall, treasure map in hand, during the beginning of the movie. *sigh*

Sounds like I have a crush on him, hehe - which is totally bollocks, but those portraits are sooo cool.

For Kingdom there is the excellent Photographic Journey as we all know of course.

All in all, I feel we live in a land of golden opportunities and adventure (yes, the same feeling I had about a year ago with the theatrical run of Blade Runner, the briefcase DVD set and the amazing three-disc Vangelis sountrack collection).

Ah, I am extremely happy... :whip:

Bye,
Martin

PS:

BTW: These boards are a joy to read - so many genuine excitement as far as the soundtrack collection and the classic trilogy are concerned (I know that in the Crystal Skull section there's a lot of negative stuff).

I also followed the soundtrack discussion (quite a bit of reading) on the Film Score Monthly and Williams Fan Net boards as well as a big German one.

Sadly all of these are full of negative statements and spite.

So this is probably the last time I will follow the internet closely on such a big release (like Skull theatrical before, or the Blade Runner stuff, etc.). For me there isn't anything left worth waiting for anyhow (other milestones having been the Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogies on DVD of course)... ;) ;) ;)

Luckily I feel so priviliged to be able to listen to this music and to hold this nice set in my hands that there's no swaying me.

Enjoy!

An amusing "theory" has been proposed - that John Williams always intentionally composes a score whose quality fits that of the movie in which it will be used.

Now, true or not, that would certainly explain why the collection of randomly selected themes released under the official name of "the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull score" is so tepid.

Well what can I say? Maybe my collection of eighteen hundred pages of magazine articles, lobby cards, trading cards and about 20 books makes it hard on me to get impressed. But thanks for pointing out.:hat:

Amusing, but little evidence for it...

LOL, holy smokepipe, so yours is longer than mine... ;)

BTW, I forgot: As one can see above, even the rare picture from the beginning of Raiders, the one I was talking about earlier (which I found on the first pages of the Indiana Jones hand book) is in there... ;) ;) ;)

Martinland or Sakis, would you mind PMing me scans of some lobby cards or magazine photos (in 300 dpi) that have supporting characters on them? I need some high resolution photos of Marion, Willie Scott, Sallah, Short Round etc. for some custom cards I'm making for my Hasbro figures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice! Can you show us the Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull leaflets too? I want to read Steven's notes inside.

Also, just listsned to the Amazon clips - and yay, finally the "Wrong Choice, Right Choice" music is there. Nice to hear that peice without Elsa screaming and Donovan growling in horror. Really like that music, like the high pitched instrument work during Donovan's aging process and other small parts obscured by the screams!

Thanks a lot for posting those!

So, on this set - is the complete jungle chase with the duration of 9:40 on this set? Cause I have that version on my PC, and I have to say I like it a lot, I especially like the quicker version of Irina's theme that plays (during the scene where the camera zooms in on her face as she holds the skull, viewing Indy approaching in the jeep). And is "Over The Cliff" anywhere on this set too, and the Warehouse Escape? I think "Over the Cliff" near the end, towards when Marion is about to drive off the edge of the cliff is really good music.

Nothing expanded or new for KOTCS. You'll need to keep those other versions to hand... ;)
