Hey you guys

First time user so please have some patience

first of all thanks for all the great work!! You guys rock!! and your time and generousity cannot be measured(y)

anyways I didn't find those 2 Pages from the Infernal Machine Guide on this board so maybe if someone can use it ....well here it is:

AND

since I am from Austria I do have some german books and then some and I hope I can help closing some collection gaps.

I do have all the Hohlbein books, I have seen that there is already some work in progress, so please pm me for more details.

I have all the Young Indiana Jones books (excl. french ones) I guess the ones which are interesting are again the 12 german ones:

Fluch der Mumie => Curse of the Mummy but with Old Indy
Schüsse in Garten Eden => german only, based on British East Africa 1909
Die Nadeln des Dr. Wen Chiu => german only, based on India 1910 and China 1910
Pancho Villa => german only, based on The Curse of the Jackal (part2)
Felder des Todes => The Day of Destiny
Mata Hari => The Mata Hari Affair
Am Todesfluss => River of Death
Im Auftrag seiner Majestät => The Secret Treaty
Der Eunuch von Barcelona => german only, based on Spain 1917
Der Fürst des Schreckens => german only, based on Transsylvania 1918
Geburtstag in St. Petersburg => The Rule of Russia
Gangsterkrieg in Chicago=> german only, based on Mystery of the Blues

I guess it will be easier to start with the Young Indy books.

Sadly I can only provide the scans/Text so I would need to team up with some of you to make the books really readable......since my english is probably not up to the task. (n)

so for feedback and good ideas, please pm me!!

Thanks

Welcome.

Thanks for the scan. Nice.

It would be nice to see the Mike F. Thompson originals translated.

What's your spoken English like?

It would be easier if you were to read the German Editions and then record them in English for someone to edit/transcribe into text.

It's takes so long via translators that this is a short-cut we could use.

WILLKOMMEN to The Raven, Charron!:hat:

It's so wonderful to have someone else keen on joining our Translating Team of foreign literature. Thanks for signing up & volunteering! From what you've written so far, it seems that your English is up to the task. You could try translating a sample page and post it here so we can see how much help you may need.

The Hohlbein books are the top priority (since they have original stories) so just pick one other than "Gold von El Dorado" and "Labyrinth des Horus".

Great to have you here, kamerad!(y)

Hey guys :D

thanks for having me:hat:

and thanks stoo I do my best

hehehe JuniorJones...well like all the german/austrians sound while talking english......quite funny :)

to be honest I was so impressed with what you guys did/do that I though it would be a shame to not share the stuff that I got. Especially if those are hard to find or read. And this site is really the holy grail of stuff regarding indy. actually I thought I have a good collection but browsing through the threads I find myself almost back to the start :gun:

Regarding the french books:
Can someone give me an update on those? I am maybe able to contact a seller in Paris, which ones do we still need? I know that 2 are completed but I am not sure how many are in progress or which books are not even in our hands! Thanks for that!

Regarding the german books:

well I guess I will start with the Old Indy from Mummy and Mata Hari since I don't think that the US Version got those (please correct me if I am wrong).

I hope they will make good samples and I guess we can figure out how things will work. As much as I can remember....those books were not so difficult to read we will see how they will sound in english :) and I guess we can have the young indiana jones finished pretty soon since they don't have that many pages.....

well and I wanted to read those old Hohlbein books anyway soon..so I guess I can start translating them while reading......

Auf Wiedersehen!

I've been in touch with CharronThanas, and look forward to adding scans of these covers to the main site. I borrowed info and some images from the Austrian site (since 1996!) a couple years ago and am eternally grateful, because it takes multiple perspectives to determine if a non-English book is a translation or original. In this case, the six Mike F. Thompson books were never published in English. Written in English then translated? Who knows...
