Hi all
In a couple of previous posts, I'd mentioned that Adam Hughes was going to do some stuff for Dark Horse and also did a short two page adventure for the YIJ magazine. I found a couple samples online. Check out the links for a look at what his take on Indy would've looked like.

Yes those Adam Hughes are out since a few years.. too bad they haven't done nothing with that project.

I personally adore Adam Hughes. I must admit, though, that my reading a history of Indy drawed by him would have me a little "distracted" by the Jungle Queen! ;)

If you like the sketches above look at those ones...

Anyway they're all from this site: http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/categories.php?cat_id=117&page=5
If you love Adam Hughes it's surely worth a visit. I love his Catwoman-Audrey Hepburn.

I really don't care for the artwork of the second female. She just looks so bland. I suppose it's more realistic as opposed to a buxom archaeologist, but still, she could at least be a little more attractive...

I agree... that's why I emphatized the beauty of the jungle queen. Actually, if I must imagine a role to that "Emily" I think she'd drawn to be the comedy-role that belonged to Marcus or Sallah in the Last Crusade.

I think the main female were the Jungle Queen.

That second one, the magazine cover threw me for a loop! I saw Fank Miller's name with Indy and I almost fainted. I hate Frank Miller's crap. If he were to do Indy then he'd have way too much violence and underdressed, oversexed females in the story!:D

Oh, this is superb. And the thing is, if they did Cate Blanchett-style casting earlier in the Indy series, and the series began, oh, about a decade earlier, we could have easily ended up with Orson Welles as Donovan. Easily.

(Yeah, I found this because of the Unfilmed Indy quotes thread.)

Found this: an Indiana Jones Puzzle Card by Adam Hughes. What set was this in?

Great image, apart from the mystery character between the Idol and the Skull. Is that the son Indy had with Willie?

Is that the puzzle?

JJ, your image isn't showing up but it's the same as the one in the very 1st link of this thread.:p

Indeed. Actually, now it's showing up. The first link is a scan of the actual sketch, whereas this has the contrast bumped up.

Thanks to various Raven members, I have a precious, .jpg collection of Hughes' drawings of Indy. 11 of them (8 pencils and 3 finished inks) from this thread are for the previously discussed, "Indiana Jones and the Jungle Queen", which is a story I would love.

It would have been a mash-up of Indy with the common clichés of a white, female leader of an African tribe and an extremely rare, albino gorilla (only *one* has ever been found, and that was in the '60s). These themes have been used many times but I can't help thinking of "The Jungle Queen" (1937) serial and movies like, "White Pongo" and "White Gorilla" (both 1945).

Two of the inked drawings have dates: 1990 and 1992. Does anyone know anything more about this work? Why did Adam Hughes and Karl Kesel's project not work out with Dark Horse?
