I think it's a litle bit sad that someone should lift their entire look from a character in a movie.
Imagine if someone did it now, walked down the street dressed exactly like someone very distinctive in a film, I don't think they'd last long. No matter how cool they might look.

Well, Indy's look and outfit is pretty much exactly the same as Harry Steele in Secrets of the Incas, and from Mr. Jones in China.

I find this to be a very naive comment. Movies have always influenced what people wear. While you can draw a direct comparison to Brando, in the 50s teens all over the country were wearing leather jackets. It was a whole Greaser subculture. Mutt would not have been labeled a geek for dressing like a movie character.

Cool to see some of "Secret of the Incas". I had seen photos and knew the Indy character was derived from Steele, but I've never seen the film. The second clip kind of reminded me of the map room from Raiders and also of the beginning with Belloq taking the idol.

I always thought that Mutt was supposed to be like Brando in "The Wild One" and when the trailer came out showing him with that hat I knew it for sure!

Brando was inspirational to a lot of youths in the early 50's. Him and Elvis really changed the culture.

I think everything they've done in the film so far really captures that time well.

Im guessing this is where Mutt costume design came from Marlon Brandos Wild One,otherwise ive never seen a greaser witrh one of those hats.

Haha, that is awesome! I love it.

....don't know if that's new (probably not). It was on the Indy4 spoiler site previously linked to in this thread.

...anyway, look at Indy's Bag! The strap is UNDER his jacket all the sudden. :)

CLASSIC INDY. I LOVE IT
