Ahh, here we go: can you please remove the question mark from the title?(y)

So far I've bought The Shining, Die Hard and have 30 Days Of Night on pre-order.

What I'd really like to know about is the "upscale" feature. Can a Blu-Ray player actually kick a regular DVD up to 1080HD?

Sharpens the images slightly but of course it doesn't make it 1080. Otherwise what would be the point in buying the blu-ray discs!?

So far I have:

Ghost Rider, Die Hard 4.0, Fantastic4 and Casino Royal on Blu-ray. As I have a 40inch HDtv it does make such a difference. Much more of a cinema experience.

Die Hard is amazing when scrubbed up. The sound in particular...

I have an HD tv, but since I'd probably most want to watch Star Wars on HD, I guess I'll have to wait to buy a Blu-ray.

By the way, Blu-ray is broken up into three Regions whilst HDDVD had none whatsoever.
Regions A, B and C.
I import alot but this is frankly idiotic. Mutli-region Blu-ray players soon? Good thing HDDVD was literally Zero Region off the bat and I can import practically anything I want. Except no Harry Potter of course.

DVD is cresting because..well, have you filled up at the pumps lately?

Blu-Ray is not matching pace for pace in the growth chart though. Until Blu-Ray players* go down, and the Blu-Ray discs are as cheap as standards, Joe Six Pack, who ultimately controls the market (see:laserdisc era), will not see the reason to upgrade.

Go Sony!

That article I posted earlier may contain more optimism for Blu-Ray than is merited...

For f*ck's sake! If Blu-Ray eventually bombs, what then! They're always moving the goalposts, advancing technology just when the public has come to afford the last upgrade. Booooo!

As I preached during the HD-DVD/Blu-ray battle....it's analogous to DVD being the big brother, lounging comfortably in the front yard hammock, fat and happy and sipping lemonade, while DVD's two little runt brothers, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray fight it out in the backyard.

Not much has really changed in the rank structure since the hd war ended. Well, one little brother is knocked out cold, flat on his ass. Otherwise....

Well, I've pushed my chips towards Blu-Ray and I ain't changing. I'll just have to hope that the figures improve. If not, it's down to my local Sony Centre with a shotgun and a molotov cocktail.

just bought a ps3 today and the graphics are MENTAL thanks to the blu-ray player.

I had to by only one game. I had already beaten lego indy on ps2 so the next indy-esque was Uncharted: Drakes Fortune which is very good.

PS3 ROCKS
