Mmm..no, not really.Sankara said:George Lucas said that Indy never married Deidre.
This is being taken out of context. The quote is Lucas talking about *Indy's life after WW2 ended* and the events since CrusadeSankara said:"The complete Making of Indiana Jones"-Book, Page 248

As do I. Good theory, Hovitos!YouNeverKnow said:So I tend to agree with HovitosKing's post.

"some 18 years ago". Apparently, Henry Sr. wanted grandchildren which Junior failed to produce.

On a side not...anyone else notice that most of the women in Indy's life over the course of the (American) novels are all redheads? Dierdre, Gail, Alecia Dunstin...am I forgetting anyone?

I wonder if this was done intentionally to off-set the one burnette (Marion) and two blondes (Willie and Elsa) from the movies.
From Henry Sr.'s point of view, he probably never knew about Indy's marriage to Dierdre at all.|ZiR| said:But still if that were the case shouldn't he have said "he never got remarried"?
Of course I'm just guessing in the dark here since I've never read the book in question.
If Henry knew, then he'd kept a shecret from hish shon pasht hish lasht dying breath.DIrishB said:If only he'd known about Mutt.
Gail? Who dat? Please refresh/enlighten me.DIrishB said:On a side not...anyone else notice that most of the women in Indy's life over the course of the (American) novels are all redheads? Which is why I like to imagine that Sophia begat Old Indy's daughter. For more on Indy's redheads:Resident Alien said:Sophia Hapgood. A redhead.
Ha ha. I was going to say something similar but held back. A few of my friends have married redheads|ZiR| said:That's plausible. I think a lot of nerdy type people have a thing for redheads, though. That's my broad sweeping generalization for the day.

'Twas brief & tragic. Considering father & son were never too close, it's a good bet Indy never
revealed that part of his past.
You should get the "Complete Making of..." It's an excellent book!

Indy's daughter in TV series?
Ha ha. I was going to say something similar but held back. A few of my friends have married redheads
and while I wouldn't say "nerdy" there does seem to be a "type" who fall for them.

More redheads:
Professor Karen Mays (Marvel 4-5, Gateway to Infinity & The Harbingers)
Miss Jessie Hale (Marvel 25 & 29, Good as Gold & Shot by Both Sides)
Un-named daughter, Spike’s mother (Old Indy)
indyt said:This is embarrasing but I did not know Indy had a wife. What does the comics/books say about her? And how did Indys mom die? thanks guys
Violet Indy said:Did anyone happen to notice in the wedding scene that Marion's hair looked slightly redder? I'm serious. I thought I was crazy the first time, but then I watched it a second time (and yes, a couple of times on Youtube before it was pulled off) and it appears Marion's hair got redder. I can't prove it right now with a screen shot, but even in general Marion's hair in CS, had a shade of red pigment in it, more than usual as her hair is pretty much dark brown/almost black in Raiders.
I sat there thinking maybe she dyed it in the 50s or maybe in different weather conditions such as more sun, etc has changed her hair colour (the sun does that to me, it makes my hair lighter in the summer and darker in the winter).

Thanks, guys. Had 'em all for years & years but haven't read those yet!DIrishB said:Gail Parker...she was the female sidekick and potential love interest for Indy in Martin Caidin's (terrible) two Indy books (Sky Pirates and White Witch). She was a pilot, into Witchcraft/Wicca, your usual fiery redhead. Not much else to her besides that.
Noooo...the un-named, redhead daughter is definitely Spike's mom. I figured that out here. Post #48:DIrishB said:But I personally prefer to think of Spike's mom as Marion.
Gad, I hate that word but, yes, she was.|ZiR| said:I forget, was she retconned along with old Indy?
Good question. Anyone know? Flannery10?|ZiR| said:Anyway, something DIrishB said sparked my interest: what about the German IJ books? Do we know who his female partners were in those and what color hair they had? Did he even have romantic interests in those novels?
Nothing except the main character! Anyway, this is a thread entitled "Dierdre Campbell" in the Indy Literature section. It's not about the movies.Sankara said:Watch the movies and you know that was nevery married to Deidre...
These lousy booky are "Expanded Universe". They've got nothing to do with the movies...
