Desert Chase ("Raiders"):

Because despite being 'Shot At' in nearly/all of the subsequent chases, I seem to recall the Desert Chase being the only one where Indy was actually 'Shot.'

And considering the fact that AFTER being shot, Indy is:

1: Kicked
2: Punched in his wound
3: Thrown through the front windshield
4: Attempts to not fall from the truck
5: Crawls down under the truck
6: Climbs up from the back
7: Kicks the Nazi
8: Beats the s**t outta him
9: Throws HIM out the front
10: Runs over him
11: Runs Deitrich, Toht and Belloq off the road
12: Gets back into town with the Ark...

Nothing says bad ass like a wounded Indy STILL going for it! (y)

Truck chase, truck chase, truck chase. Nazis getting tossed into the dirt left and right, the Tough Sergeant's badassery, Indy rear-ending the staff car just out of spite, his little grin when he sends those guys on the motorcycle into the river, the way he and the truck driver laugh at one another before Indy boots 'im out, two Wilhelm Screams, the look on Gobler's face as he and his passengers plunge down the bottomless gorge of terror....

No contest.

1. Tank Chase from The Last Crusade: I have to agree with what Darth Vile said, this is, quite simply, one of the greatest action set pieces ever created. Is as if the creators of the film, sat down and said, "Ok, we have these characters and this tank. Name every single idea that can possibly be used!" Its creative, inventive, kinetic, and so damn fun to watch.

2. Truck Chase from Raiders of the Lost Ark: What more can I write about this scene that hasn't been said before? Its the Raiders Truck Chase. Its a masterstroke of storytelling and stunts. Its has tension, suspense, laughs...everything.

3. Young Indy Chase from the Last Crusade: I've already explained why I love this intro so much in various other "Favorite opening scene", so I wont go into further detail really. It just has this magical touch that combines every reason Last Crusade is my fave Indy movie.

4. Mine Cart Chase from Temple of Doom: Its really incredible how well this holds up 25+ years later. Its a literal roller coaster of emotions, and it showcases one of Temple's finest gifts: Red. The colors throughout the film are truly magnificent; each frame is like a pornography of cinematography. The true gem out of a stellar, exciting 3rd act.

5. Motorcycle Chase from The Last Crusade: A very free-willing, light-hearted chase. There's isn't any sense of danger, but it has all these great Indiana Jones moments: John Williams' score, Indiana Jones as a knight symbolism, Henry Sr. not letting Indy have any sense of accomplishment, and that AWESOME motorcycle flip.

6. Venice Boat Chase from Last Crusade: A cool scene thats down here because the other five are simply better. It does have a couple of odd moments despite all its otherwise badassness, like the anticlimactic ending and the fact that those boats didnt exist back in the 1930s.

7. Jungle Chase from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: We finally get to a Kingdom set piece. I think this might actually go above the Venice Boat Chase. One of my fave shots in any Indy film is when the camera focuses on the Commies firing into the jungle, and then the trees stop and BAM Indy leaps across the jeeps. And when Shia and Spalko sword fight on the jeeps with John Williams' great "Jungle Chase" hits its stride, I always have this huge smile on my face.

8. Warehouse Chase from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: When I first saw this scene back in May 22nd, I was like "Hell yeah, Indy is back, niggas!" out loud. Its just vintage Indy, but its also feels like an update with the nice use of CGI and old Indy not doing everything he used to do 19 years ago. I'm sorry, but I really liked Ray Winstone in Kingdom, and his "You don't know him!" line was great. A nice use of vertical action as well.

9. Shangai Chase from Temple of Doom: A pretty short scene, I don't even know if it counts. The best part of the Temple of Doom opening had past, thats for sure.

10. College Chase from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Much like the above, this is only moderately awesome. Stupid Marcus joke and a overall lack of excitement down an otherwise decent scene. But its cool seeing Harrison Ford do his own stunts at 65 years of age.

1. You can't top the truck chase from Raiders.
2. Jungle chase comes in close second.
3. Tank chase is a pretty close third as well.
4. Motorcycle chase.
5. Warehouse chase.
6. Street chase.
7. Mine cart chase. I hate to put any of these at last place because they're all great action scenes.

What about the Boulder Chase? lol

The warehouse chase is my favorite part of the entire series. I absolutely love when he's running on top of the crates, getting shot at, and swings and misses. That particular version of the Raiders March that's being played there is my favorite, and to my knowledge, is only played twice in the entire series. That's what I imagine Indy to be outside of the movies- using the whip a lot more to swing and do cool stuff like that.

I loved the part in the Marshall College chase when Indy gets yanked into the car, comes out the other side, and Mutt jumps on the brakes to get him back on. I thought the jungle chase was a lot of fun too, with the characters going from one car to the other. So I think that my favorite chases came from KoTCS, although I enjoy them all.

The chase scenes are the best parts of the movie. Anyone can film a car chase, but with Indy, they always make it slightly different and new.

1.Truck Chase ? Raiders ? Can?t be topped

2.Street Chase ? Kingdom ? Love the feeling of danger

3.Warehouse Chase ? Kingdom ? Interesting location & camera angles.

4.Motorcycle Chase ? Crusade ? Jousting and modern-day dirt bikes kick it down a notch. Cool Beemer sidecar rig though.

5.Jungle Chase ? Kingdom ? Goes on too long. Either take the skull from her or run her off the road and go get the skull out of the wreckage.

6.Tank Chase ? Crusade ? Gets too silly

7.Mine Cart Chase ? Temple ? Completely ridiculous

Good point Dewy9, the boulder chase was brilliant. I saw it when I was 13 on the big screen and I remember almost standing up to yell at Indy to hurry the hell up! But, like so many others, for me the truck scene is by far the best of the chases. So far 36 people have voted for the truck chase and the movie was set in 1936! Coincidence or not?!!!

Not sure how I would rank them, but the Raiders truck chase is still the best, followed closely by the tank chase in Last Crusade.

Alright.

My favorite chase in any Indy movie is the Jungle Chase.

No other scene in KotCS makes me smile so much. When Indy and Marion are bickering even after Dovchenko attempts to gag Marion, "Not yet!" *kick* *kick* *kick* *kick* then Indy crawling through the cloth "They weren't you." and that's just the first minute! Indy leaping from car to car, kicking major ass, with the Raider's March playing, then the sword fight, and then the Last Crusade-esque (IMO) cliff-bumping. One of my favorite shots in any Indy film, possibly top 3 favorite shots, is when the Commies are shooting at Indy's ride through the foilage, and when the parallel roads meet again, Indy leaps over. And I love how Ox is smiling when they almost go over the edge. Indy's interaction with Mutt: "Whoa.." "Whoa... WHOA!!!" Brilliant stuff; vintage.

My second favorite is also from Crystal Skull: the Area 51 scene.

But you guys already pointed out all the great stuff about this scene, and I'm a little tired, so no elaboration.

Cheers. ;)

Why is the warehouse chase so low, LastCrusader?

I mean, totally nothin wrong with that. It just seems very different from everyone else's list. So I'm curious.

I love all the Indiana Jones chases, and that includes Indy 4s, and the warehouse chase too. The problem with that one though is that it's too short. All the other chases in the Indy films are exactly as long as they should be. When they're over you really have the feeling that you had a great build-up to an amazing climax. The Warehouse chase consists of awesome shots, but there is no build up at all. Maybe if they edited it differently would have loved it as much as all the others, because I think they could've stretched the actual chase bits in stead of having one climax after the other without any real chasing. The scene is awesome but it doesn't feel complete to me, there are a few parts missing.

I'm actually gonna have to agree. Upon third and fourth viewings, it does appear to be rather short (but I still feel its an excellent adrenaline rush!)
