digitalfreaknyc I just bought a DVD recorder so I can finally get the stuff we talked about on to DVD, if you want I can get a copy of this Japanese making onto DVD as well. Let me know :whip:

That would be fantastic. I haven't forgotten about the project. I just get too "in over my head" with projects and everything gets backed up. I just purchased about 10-15 EPK's from Ebay, in addition to the ton of other stuff that I haven't dealt with yet. Just ask for you guys to give me some leeway and then we'll all be happy in the end!

Hey, gang, I'm back home for a couple of days and managed to successfully upload the Indy-related segments to YouTube. The image isn't Blu-ray quality but it's still much better than the other video source that ROLLERBALL discovered.

Awesome, loved it. This is as good, or better than some of the stuff on the bluray release, the behind the scenes stuff, and the deleted scenes from Indy make this a true gem.

Just a thought, any chance on removing the Japanese audio on the version you have? This way we could hear what the film makers are saying without the Japanese audio dubbing. Probably not possible, but just a thought, if your copy had them on separate tracks or something.

Thanks again to both ROLLERBALL and STOO, what a treat!

Thank you for this Stoo. love it.
You're extremely welcome, ROLLERBALL. I gave you a credit at the end. You deserve it!;)

Once again I love seeing Spielberg doing his thing. Great stuff.

Thanks to both of you.
It is a fine & uninterrupted example of Spielberg on his set. This is rare for Indiana Jones material and I'm glad that you can appreciate its unique quality, Gonzo.:hat:

Awesome! Cannot wait to get a better version of this for my Blu-ray compilation!
If you manage to find a better copy, DigitalFreak, please let me know!

Micsteam, have you found some other source for this footage? If so, please tell me!:gun:

Thanks for these. :) Will the part that contains the Temple of Doom deleted scene be uploaded to YouTube?
Flip, the deleted "Doom" scenes are in Part 2.

Unfortunately, no, Russ. The Japanese audio is inextricable.:(

What a fabulous video! Tank-ee, tank-ee sir!

I had a little weird moment when I saw the Vienna catacomb scene and realized it was a set! Quite obvious I suppose, but it's a real tribute to the filmmakers that I never thought about it before as I get so caught up in the scene when watching the film. I know the rats are mechanical when the fire is set too but never think about that when watching either!

Unfortunately I can NEVER watch the ants in KOTCS without my brain screaming "CGI"!! Grrr!

Another Copyright Issue

Nick, funny that you mention the catacomb scene because the clip from the film, within this documentary, was flagged by YouTube with:

Copyright Notice
Visual content administered by: paramount_vfp

---
The issue with the catacomb scequence might be because it's the longest clip of them all - over 60 seconds. (Are there any copyright lawyers here at The Raven who can give some insight?)

Anyways, folks, watch this thing & download it as soon as possible...just in case my YouTube account gets closed due to all the copyright infringements that I'm currently being slammed with!

That's not some nosy Italian behind the camera, it's Spielberg.
This video was shot in Venice on the 7th August 1988, while the cast of "Indiana Jones and the last Crusade" was visiting the local police station. You can see Sean Connery, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Alison Doody, John Rhys-Davis and Spielberg himself.

Haha, Spielberg finding out/obsessing over the macro lens is gold.

Ooh, great stuff. I hadn't seen this one before. Thanks for posting! I'm not sure why, but seeing old footage of original Indy stuff, is just like finding buried treasure. :)

Thanks a million for sharing this awesome footage! Much appreciated! :D

Strange that they didn't show more of Sean Connery during the filming of the sidecar chase. Most of the scenes were probably shot with a double that day...

Another Japanese hourlong documentary, 1982 I think, during Twilight Zone filming. More of Firelight than I've ever seen at 32:30. All-access! Not much about Raiders though, at first glance.

Thanks!

I'm amazed that the Japanese documentary people were allowed there. I guess he was fond of Japan. And I heard that Spielberg admired Japanese movies, particularly Kurosawa's movies.

Who doesn't? This statement smacks of smarmy pandering.
I don't understand. Did my comment sound negative to you? I like Kurosawa's movies, too. but it's unusual for a director to allow someone to document his or her directing.... You're a mod!?

This is the kind of stuff I wish the Blu-Ray set had covered. There's a treasure trove of deleted scenes, documentaries and interviews that have never been released in any official format.

Not your statement. Spielberg's.
