Who would have thought, my login still works! Haven't been on here for years, but I have another one to add to the pile of "Fate of Atlantis" soundtracks, and that's mine (with only 4 tracks finished so far, there's still a lot of work ahead of me).
I was never quite happy with how any of the other soundtrack remasters for the game came out, especially in the brass department. Trumpets always sounded slurred, off-time, and generally not pleasing. And hey, the trumpets are the most important part of the Raiders March, right? So, I finally began working on my own remaster of the soundtrack. Starting from fresh rips of the game's music files, my first go was at the interactive opening credits of the game. This was important for me, just to nail the Raiders March (as it's so well known), and get it over with. I noticed that - as with other LucasArts games - there were slight differences between the AdLib and Roland MT-32 music files, sometimes adding or dropping an instrument line here and there. So I combined those whenever possible, to have the most "complete" version possible.
Using the
Adlib-rip from VGMRips as my reference, I rediscovered this soundtrack like it was new to me (as I haven't played the game in years). And I instantly fell in love with the track playing when Indy tells Marcus about his time with Sophia in Iceland. And, crazily enough, I found that the AdLib and Roland versions of this track were two completely different, but equally lovely cues, which I've combined for my version.
The Map cue was a nice quickie on the side, while Sophia's Atlantis Presentation was one of the more important tracks, as it properly introduces the Atlantis theme. Currently I'm working on the Sunset & End Credits track, on and off, again, mostly to get the Raiders March down (a WIP of it can be found
here, it's not great), but I'll probably jump around to some other tracks here and there, just to get a broader view of the music.
Anyway, long story short, enjoy the few tracks already finished:
