Customizing Indy Figures

On another note, does anyone know off the top of their head if any of the Temple guards came with a khyber rifle, like those seen firing at Indy and company during the mine scenes?

I understand that the term 'Khyber rifle refers to a locally made copy of a gun.

The following photo has this caption:

From top to bottom - French Mle 1886 Lebel rifle, what I believe is a British Lee-Enfield Mark I* (vice a Lee-Metford), followed by a Snider conversion of the Tower 3-band Enfield musket, and a Martini-Henry carbine, that has seen some local decoration, or is in fact a "Khyber rifle" of local manufacture.

The photo I found was a coincidencem since the guns used by the Thuggee uring the Mine Cart chase actually were of the Martini Henry variety.

Though I can't think of an action figure range that would have these. The Golden Compass Tartar soldiers had bolt action rifles that could be worked on.

I'm still new to posting here and haven't figured out how to really post pics but I've given a link from the rebelscum site so others can see the goods.

Some really cool scenery pieces there - especially the Temple, and the one between the Map Room and Dagobah.

To post pictures here you just need to copy the address of each picture and paste it in your post, making sure that it has the image tag
at the end.

I'd like to see your Berlin Elsa in more detail.

sorry about linking but i can't seem to figure this pic loading thing out.

It's very simple really.

1. Open the picture you want to include in your post (it looks like you're hosting them from Rebel Scum's photogallery).

2. Right click anywhere on the picture and copy the Address (URL)

3. Paste the Address into your post.

4. Type in front of the address.

5. Type at the end of the address.

6. To make sure you got it right, click on Preview Post.

And it's a really effective Temple of the Sun you made there.

You broke your Willie! Too much rough handling?

Looks like Mola needs to go in for repair, too!

LOL Willie had a few small kinks we're working out..just got a few progress shots, and she's looking better than ever... and yes, Mola lost his hand,(no more heart-ripping)so of course Indy had to be knocking it off as he whizzed past in the inky_cart for the pic:whip: .

and I don't care for The Last Crusade, but that is an amazing set-up, no doubt. Excellent Work.

Ever since I got the Hot Toys DX05 Indy, I've been wanting to use the Map Room robe with a different figure (because the HT Indy only comes with one body).

I tried putting it on the Hasbro Indy, but of course that didn't work due to the fedora being a permanent part of the head. I decided to just purchase another Hot Toys body, the TTM19. The headsculpt is not Indy. Most say it's a headsculpt of Jake Gyllenhaal.

At first, I was okay with it not looking like Indy... but...

I eventually decided to make a few tweaks...

sculpt_in_progress.jpg

Tried my best to make it look more Indy-ish... but I'm not that much of a sculptor. This is the best I could do...

It's not perfect, but the face will be partially obscured by the turban anyway.

Watcha guys think? This is my first time to sculpt or modify a 1/6 head... I see a lot of imperfections after I took the pics. Macro shots really do reveal those un-sanded parts.

Just finished my custom Map Room Indy... and all I can say is, "IT DOES NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE INDY!" Hahaha!

Ugly little fella ain't he? Hehehe... I should've just bought an Indy head.

I did find a Sideshow Hatless Indy head at a local toystore and it was just worth $18 (converted from our currency). Oh, well... Maybe I'll buy it next time I pass by the shop.

I actually think the Ford likeness is decent, certainly better than some I've seen.. it's the paint that obscures it,(much like Hasbro's first run of 3 3/4 inchers). The eyes look too big,and unnatural, and the skin tone is off. I only make these criticisms because I don't think it's a complete loss, and could even be a decent collectible with a few alterations, (the side view of the unpainted head is a good likeness, really).

Yeah... I thought that too. On the unpainted head, the sideview kinda (it's a stretch, I know) looks like Harrison. But when I painted it... it got kinda crappy.

SCULPT:
This is my first time doing something like this as I'm very new to the 1/6 scale arena (or any real toy customizing). I can sculpt Harry Potter wands just fine, but a little tiny face is really hard. Maybe when I find the time again, I'll go back and try to refine the head.

PAINT:
I just tried to match the skin tone of the body and hands. They are kinda close in tone, but certain light sources bring out the differences. It's probably the finish of the paint. It has a more shiny finish because of the white paint I used which wasn't a matte finish.

As for the eyes... haha! That's my bad. I didn't have a small enough brush to get more into the the eyelids. I just used one small flat brush on the whole thing (lazy, I know...). The eyes were done with a toothpick. Also, I think the eyes were too white.

Right now I just bought the Sideshow headsculpt and slapped it on the figure. Hahaha!

Picked up the Blu Ray Deleted Scene Sandstorm Leia today and her goggles work pretty good for Vogel. They are mor like "glasses", having two bows instead of a strap that goess all the way around, so they kind of just clip onto his visor:

They are AN-6530's, favoured by US Navy fliers during WW2 (the Leia card shows them clearly). Incidentally, they are the same model worn by Captain America in the recent First Avenger movie - I just refurbed a pair for a prop replica helmet display...
