Indiana Jones in London?

I'm going to London in June on vacation. Are there any Indy related thing to do in London? The only things I can think of so far are Stonehenge and the Wested factory store. Anything else?

I haven't been to London myself, but I've heard there's ancient Roman ruins everywhere. They might be within private buildings, though, as well as outside, but there might be maps for tourist trails. Just an idea to check out.

Indy's also spent some time at the British Museum, or so the novels (and even without those, solid conjecture) tell us.
So does "Crystal Skull".;) Great suggestion, Attila. Go to the British Museum, Dr. Sartorius because it will not disappoint! Amongst many other things, there are tonnes of Egyptian stuff there and when you first enter the main welcoming hall, look immediately to your left...to find the 2nd best crystal skull!

Just a note about Stonehenge: You'll need to take a day excursion to Salisbury Plains for that. There are bus tour packages available which are easy to find.

Just remembered a couple more things.

There's also Henry Sr.'s house from "Crusade". Good ol' Ravenhead, Jeremiah Jones, found it and gave the precise location in post #17 of this thread: Filming Locations

Not sure if you're into Young Indy but Remy & Indy walk down some steps with Big Ben in the background. These steps are on the northwest side of Westminster Bridge and lead down to the Thames embankment.

You can also see the wax figure of Indy at Madame Tussaud's. Great likeness but he's being chased by a gigantic, disco mirror-ball!

The Imperial War Museum is also highly recommended. (While I'm a 'friend' of the National Army Museum, it is much smaller and doesn't have much WW2 stuff in it so you'd probably enjoy the much larger, Imperial. If you are interested in the National, it's right next to the Chelsea Barracks.)

I've been to London 4 times and LOVE it. Have a great trip, Dr. Sartorius!:D

P.S. Shouldn't this be in the Globe-trotting section?

All great suggestions. You could do worse than take a look here: http://indianajones.wikia.com/wiki/London. It details the historical sites visited by Indy during his time in London.

You might also want to consider Pinewood Studios - not sure if they do public tours but you could check (http://www.pinewoodgroup.com). Purely for it's connections to that other Lucasfilm production ;)

Additionally, a visit to Herbert Johnson might also be in order (http://www.herbert-johnson.co.uk/index.html).

While not strictly Indy related, I always like to recommend Trader Vics for a little 'wild' nightlife (http://www.tradervicslondon.com/). I'm sure Dr Jones would approve.

Angels costume hire did a lot of the costumes for the YIJC (http://www.angels.uk.com/thetour.html) and sometimes does open days where you can browse the stock. It's also close to Forbidden Planet (http://forbiddenplanet.com/?q=indiana+jones) which stocks a number of Indy collectibles.

Phew ! That should do for now...

EDIT: If you are going to visit Stonehenge, be aware that the route is a nightmare in the Summer - especially around the solstice. However, if you do want to get out into the countryside you may also want to consider Glasonbury Tor (Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny), Bovington Tank Museum (provided source material for the LC tank and is also close to Clouds Hill - where T E Lawrence lived and died).

Thanks for the great suggestions you guys!

Is there any Indy props/costumes at Planet Hollywood or the London Film Museum?

There doesn't appear to be an online catalog of the items held by the London Film Museum, but a quick search of Google indicates there were some Last Crusade costumes and storyboards there earlier this year...

However, it's worth noting that they rotate their exhibits.

While Planet Hollywood (London) apparently has a screen-used Grail Chalice. The also have one of Indy's whips from ToD...

The also have a "Bond" room with plenty of Sean Connery items.

EDIT: And finally, The Prop Store of London also have some Indy pieces...http://www.propstore.com/content/brochure/psbrochure.pdf

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to Planet Hollywood to check out the Indy and Bond props. I'll probably go to the Prop Store too. :whip:
