On our way to Shangri-la, may I suggest we stop at Bali Hai?

Bali-Hai

Lyrics by: Oscar Hammerstein II

Music by: Richard Rodgers

From the Film: South Pacific (1949)

Label: Columbia Records

Recorded: February 28, 1949

----------------------------------------

Most people live on a lonely island, lost in the middle of a foggy sea,

Most people long for another island, one where they know they will like to be.

Bali-Hai may call you, any night, any day,

In your heart you hear it call you, "Come away, come away!"

Bali-Hai will whisper on the wind of the sea,

"Here am I, your special island. Come to me, come to me."

Your own special home, your own special dream,

Loom on the hillside, and shine in the stream.

If you try, you'll find it, where the sky meets the sea,

"Here am I, your special island, come to me, come to me."

Bali-Hai, Bali-Hai, Bali-Hai!

Someday you'll see me, loafing in the sunshine,

My head sticking out from a lone vine and bough,

You'll hear me calling you, singing to the sunshine,

Sweet and clear as can be.

Come to me, here am I, don't you see,

If you try, you'll find me where the sky meets the sea,

Here am I, your special island, come to me, come to me.

Bali-Hai, Bali-Hai, Bali-Hai!

I'm going to see if I can get another boar's tusk bracelet from Luther Gillis. Now, I think someone ought to ask ClintonHammond if Bali Hai is a real place.

Rogers and Hammerstein suck

:p

It is "Rodgers." And many people would disagree, if Broadway and motion picture success is any indicator.

They are welcome to disagree... I couldn't care less...

"Broadway and motion picture success"
You'll never go broke, pandering to the groundlings

Back in the 70's there was a cheap wine called Bali Hai. It was 99 cents for a quart. It was a nice change of pace from Ripple....(also 99 cents a quart).

They say that you only remember the good times.........and forget the bad.

That's a good thing.

(From an old guy aspiring writer with bad habits and a good memory).

I used to post as "Broomhandle1896" but forgot my password and this infernal board is hardly poster-friendly.

Helio, you were the first to welcome me here. Back when you were Broom. The post is all but archived now, but I remember the warm greeting well.

I have enjoyed your postings as of late, and hope you have had a chance to pick up the "good times" as you and monkey suggest.
