I think La-Mulana counts!

It's actually very well-made, with lots of puzzles. : V Hard, though -- definitely a homage to classic NES games like Castlevania and Mega Man and Zelda than to actual Indy games. But it's got the style, the main character's a professor with a fedora and whip, so what more could you want from an indie non-Indy Indy game?

Just when I thought Deadfall Adventures has slipped its release date, a new trailer surfaces. Crashing a plane headfirst into a temple? Yes, that's certainly one way to make an entrance.


Eschewing his grandfather's English upbringing, James Lee appears to have outfitted himself at the nearest Wild West emporium. An American accent, a U.S. undercover agent, and a boatload of Nazis and Russians round out the day!

What a grand dust up it'll be!

Looks & sounds very much like Patrick Swayze's version of Allan Quatermain.

You're absolutely right. I had been wondering why the character design looked familiar.

Now, the more important question: Why can't I remember watching the Swayze version? I've rated it on Netflix, but don't remember a single moment of it. Could I have rated it without watching?! The only Quatermain flick I recall seeing recently is that god awful Temple of Skulls.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but has anyone played Temple Run or Temple Run 2? There's a lot of Indy over tones, and Temple Run 2 even has a character named "Montana Smith":

I've actually played a bit of Deadfall Adventures already, and I'm already liking it a lot more than "Tomb Raider." There's exploration, puzzles, and just an unapologetic level of pulpness to it that allows me to ignore the budget voice acting, plot, and dialogue thus far.

I beleive I heard about this game here or over at COW but I just got my copy of Deadfall Adventures for the Xbox 360. I'm at work but I will post and let you know if it's worth purchasing. It took awhile to get here as it was advertised as to coming out back on Sept. 27th and then Nov. 15th this year but must have been some hold up with Nordic Games. Looking forward to playing this, I'll let you guys know. In the mean time you can check out minor game play and screen shots at youtube just punch in Deadfall Adventures. :hat:

I got to try the demo of this game on xbox. Whilst the story seems like an enjoyable Indy inspired romp, this game suffers from many technical problems, which put me off from owning it even on novelty factor. (n)

However, a pc version does exist (and would fix many of those things). Also, a ps3 version will be coming out down the line that is said to be a superior version, which enhanced visuals, more levels etc.

The multiplayer did seem a little more inspired then the likes of tomb raider and uncharted, but again it all technically falls flat.

A shame really. The gameplay didn't interest me either, especially with the poor implementation of alan wake's light mechanics.

Overall, it's an adventure-inspired game, I didn't come in high expectations, it could've easily been legendary if it were the 'Jack Hunter' or 'The Librarian' of adventure games. But alas, it's more like 'Alan Quartermain and the temple crystal skull" or Sinbad starring Lou Ferrigno xD

There's this one arcade game by Konami. It was called Dark Adventure I think? And there were three characters to play as and one of them looked like Indy.

Finally picked this up for 10 bucks this week on steam. It's not bad. The gun play isn't anything great, but the locations are interesting and the puzzles have been fun so far.

Aha, this thread got renamed "Games with heavy Indiana Jones influences" instead of Indiana Jones rip-offs... Much better...

Then I'd say the Tomb Raider and Uncharted series! ;)

Yes, that somehow suddenly seems more reasonable.

However, for those wishing to discuss them in detail, I'd like to remind that we already have threads dedicated for both Tomb Raider and Uncharted games series.

What about this nice tip of the hat (so to speak) to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?
Mine cart chase levels have been in almost all Donkey Kong video games in the last twenty years since Donkey Kong Country (SNES, 1994).

I have this lying around since a couple of years and did a short test of intro and game waay back then.

It feels very much like Indiana Jones, and in fact I'm looking forward to finally playing it! (soon, 2 more to go) :-D

But if Lara Croft is the first third-person action hero in vid-ya games, aren't all of these things Tomb Raider-inspired?

Anyway.

I thought this would get more play here rather than buried in the vid-ya game thread!


Sniper Elite and Zombie Army Trilogy are both excellent games, and I expect Strange Brigade to be just as good! Tune into E3 for the first look at gameplay and then sign up to win a free copy of the game!

The latest Uncharted game (called UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy) is obviously heavily influenced by the adventures of Indy, as are the other games in the series :hat:
