Nancy Stratemeyer(http://indianajones.wikia.com/wiki/Nancy_Stratemeyer) is one of my favorite Indy girls.:) She was portrayed very much like Nancy Drew. The way Nancy Drew's character is like in the books, brave and ready to solve any mystery.
Edward Stratemeyer(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Stratemeyer) came up with the character Nancy Drew but, here is a little known fact.Edward Stratemeyer hired ghost writers to write his stories for him and the first person to write Nancy Drew was a woman by the name of Mildred Wirt Benson.(y) Mildred Wirt Benson's pen name was Carolyn Keene.Learn more about her here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mildred_Benson
And here:http://www.nancydrewsleuth.com/mildredwirtbenson.html

Information about her can be found on YouTube.

Edward Stratemeyer had two daughters named Harriet Stratemeyer Adams (1892-1982) and Edna Camilla Stratemeyer (1895-2002).

There are two Nancy Drew books that I find interesting just by the looks and sound of them.I haven't read them yet,but I will in the future.

The one is called Nancy Drew Book 28 The Clue of the Black Keys.Seen here:

From what I understand it has to do with Nancy meeting an archaeologist:whip:and her going to Mexico.

The other book is called Nancy Drew Book 44 The Clue in the Crossword Cipher.
Seen here:

This book has to do with the Nasca lines and again she goes to South America,to Cuzco,Peru.

Both of these books were written by Harriet Stratemeyer Adams.

This was brought up about 2 years ago (time flies:eek:) and I've no doubt that Nancy was named after Nancy Drew. You might enjoy reading this short thread:

Ep. 12: Princeton, February 1916

I've never read a Nancy Drew story (those were for the girls;)) but really enjoyed the Hardy Boys books. Both series were all the rage in the school library but the teacher had explained to us that they were written by many different people under the names Franklin W. Dixon and Carolyn Keene.

In the late '70s, a popular TV show was "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" where Pamela Sue Martin played Nancy. Now available on DVD.

Believe it or not,I was going to buy these DVDs back in 2008,but I ended up using my money for The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones DVDs.I guess either way I would have been happy with the result.

I think you made the right choice.;) (Although, I'd love to see 1 or 2 episodes of that show for nostalgia's sake.)

There are some many moments in this chapter that evoke the "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" stories but, for me, the one that come closest is when they are in the barn at the poultry farm. I don't know why exactly but it just has that feel. Maybe it's because Nancy is doing all the brainwork while Indy is the bumbling sidekick.

Too bad scenes were cut from "Princeton" on the "Spring Break Adventure" VHS/DVD because now you don't hear Indy say, "I love you, Nancy Stratemeyer." at the very end before they go into the prom.

Yes, they kiss right after, too. Unfortunately, "Princeton" suffered the most cuts of them all and Nancy was part of every one. She had big plans with Indy (getting married, etc.) so she was probably really mad when Indy went off for spring break and never came back. (It also makes her eventual marriage to Butch even more surprising for Indy when he got back home).

I plan on uploaded the missing bits in the future but in the meantime check out this thread. "Princeton" is the 1st post: Scenes Cut From the VHS/DVD films

P.S. Just saw that in that thread I wrote "Princeton, April 1916"! Ooops, it's February.

That's a shame they deleted them, but I guess, they somehow felt editing was needed.

Ok,I'll take a look at that post.
Thanks!(y)

One of the Carolyn Keenes lived around the corner from my parents farm...they had a beautiful old horse farm including amazing barns with fieldstone foundations. Jackie Onasis would ride horses out of her stable.

One year for my birthday I got all the Hardy Boys books, (and clothes)...things were tough! But I read them all.

In this episode, there are two scenes that Stratemeyer's books appear in.In the one scene,it shows Indy reading Tom Swift and His Electric Runabout( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift_and_His_Electric_Runabout )and in another scene,it shows Stratemeyer typing his new Tom Swift book on a typewriter in his office.I paid close attention to this scene and paused every time a book would be shown on Stratemeyer's desk and from what I could tell, there was a copy of The Bobbsey Twins and the following Tom Swift books:

Tom Swift and His Sky Racer(or The Quickest Flight on Record) which is book 9 and came out in 1911 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift_and_His_Sky_Racer

Tom Swift in the City of Gold(or Marvelous Adventures Underground) which is book 11 and came out in 1912 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift_in_the_City_of_Gold

Also,in this episode, these lines were said:
Indiana Jones: Good afternoon,Mr. Stratemeyer. How's the new Tom Swift?
Edward Stratemeyer: Troublesome.I've got Tom stuck in an Incan tomb surrounded by Rocketrangers and his stungun doesn't work. The villain is flooding the tomb with water and I don't know how to get Tom out.

Indy went on to say that there were possible tunnels in the tomb and suggested that's how Tom can get out he and talked about Hiram Bingham III. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiram_Bingham_III

I think this book was never real and was just made up for the show. However, there is a Tom swift book similar to it called Tom Swift and his Big Tunnel(which is book 19 and came out in 1916,that would be the right year for this episode) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift_and_His_Big_Tunnel .I read some of it online here: http://www.readprint.com/work-1824/Tom-Swift-And-His-Big-Tunnel-Victor-Appleton and I couldn't find anything about Tom being stuck in an Incan tomb surrounded by Rocketrangers,or his stungun not working,or the villain flooding it,but I did find out he was in South America,in Peru,in a tunnel with what is refered to as an electric rifle and it wasn't working at the end of chapter XX (20) and there was more than one way out of the tunnel, not made by ancient Incans, but made by explosions, from blasts,of modern people.

This is awesome, but can you make sure it finds it's way onto a wiki?

Forums are ephemeral, hard to explore conversations even when indexed, which will be hard to reference 6 month or years down the line. That said, Wikis, while producing easily iterated upon documents, aren't nearly as pleasant for conversation or collaboration. This is one reason I'm hoping Google Waves catch on, since they combine the best features of both by turning a conversation into an editable artifact.

But anyway, please don't let this research be lost!

Despite no mention of Incas, it's too close to the scene in "Princeton" to be a coincidence. Stratemeyer could've simply taken Indy's suggestions and changed things around. I think you've nailed it! Nice detective work on this, AnnieJones (and on the other books in the background)!:hat:

The scene after Indy & Nancy leave the office and Stratemeyer goes into the other room to tell the staff about "his" brilliant idea was NOT shown on the ABC broadcast! (but it was on CTV in Canada. Weird...)
