Can we get Indy around the globe ?

Quick update...

Awful winter here in Ohio that just recently broke. Attempted to get some shots of mini-Indy recently, but they look awful. Temps only allowed for a minute or so outside, so I couldn't get good angles.

Hoping to get some better shots here soon, if you folks are cool with me hangin' out with the plastic one a tad more...

I've no problem with that Harvey - stay safe in getting your Indy shots (and in general) while the weather is bad. I may call Travelling Indy home to join me on a trip I have planned for August...

I have a few plans for him. I am in no rush, Harv, but do you know about when you'll be sending him on? I don't plan to keep him long, so I can send him back to his owner by August.

The iconic Rice-a-Roni cable car advertisement is hanging on the wall in the cable car barn. Showing the mysterious inner workings of the system was one stop I'd intended to make but didn't have time. :(
A couple of days after our meet, I actually managed to see the Rice-a-Roni advert (& cable car barn) with my own, naked, steaming eyes!(y)

Tash, your hosting of the figure (Mar-Apr 2012) was really well done and, perhaps, my favourite so far.

Stoo - thanks for minding the store. I'm considering returning to the fold soon - work permitting - but you are doing such a great job...;)
No, Inky, I'm not doing a good job. The figure is moving (& I'm keeping track) but the backlog of photos aren't being posted, despite all of my efforts. PLEASE HELP.

What else (besides meeting in person) can be done to inspire you into posting your photos?

Can we get this going again, please? C'mon, man. What are you waiting for?:whip:

Who? What? Where did all this fog come from? I can barely see where I'm headed at this point...

Love the cold bleakness?

While having a storyline to accompany photos is always nice, you needn't bother creating one if it's going to bog you down. Random shots are more than welcome!:hat:

Keep it rollin'...:)

Awesome thread! Maybe I missed it somewhere, but is there a list of where Indy has been so far? I'd be interested in hosting him here (in St. Louis)...I don't believe he's made it here yet.

Hi jsarino, yes, this is a great thread! It's hard though to get through all the various info on this thread. A while back I created a google doc recapping his adventures. It's a work in progress, not complete by any means, but helps a little. Stoo has done a great job updating that doc. Other than that, I believe there are some earlier posts with maps and stuff that do a nice job recapping.

If you end up going through the older posts, and feel like updating the doc shoot me PM, and i can give you access. I would love to see whoever has time to update that doc, so we can get a easy to read recap of all his fun adventures.

Just had another look, Russ, and it needs a lot more updating. Apologies for the slack!

In my opinion, this is THE BEST Raven thread because it brings EVERYONE & EVERYTHING together.

There are lists of Mini-Indy's travels (see below) but I'm sorry to say that the project is wary of newcomers. The past 2 years have been troublesome (even with regular Raven members) so if you wish to participate, you must demonstrate that you're willing to stick around for the long term. The figure's future travels have been booked for quite a while.

Links to the figure’s status...

Past Travels – Last Update:
#1051 (2013 Feb 18)

Future Travels – Short Term:
#1145 (2013 July 16)

Future Travels – Long Term:
#1053 (2013 Feb 18)

Adding more stops to the U.S.A. route would be fun but it's something that I'd rather defer to & be decided by Inky Skin (the project's creator). It would be nice to give everyone a chance but the point of this project was to get the figure AROUND THE GLOBE. However, all he's been doing is criss-crossing the Atlantic for 4 years.*

*Indy made it to the Philippines via MDP78 but went backwards to the States after that.

Stoo, I know I'm definitely a noob here, but I can help update the list (Russ PM'ed me the info) and get it up to speed. As for your wariness of newcomers to get added to the itinerary, I understand as well. I've only been posting here in the past week, though I've been a lurker (not registered) for a long time. I suppose it's something you can all consider revisiting provided I'm continually active 6 months or more down the road. :)

Great that you're into it, Noobie Sarino. Do whatever updates you can and I'll check your updates (or uncheck them).

French swearing aside, if Le Sab doesn't post the rest of his photos soon, I think it will be time for Harvey/Joe to start with his tour.

INKY & LANCE: Please help! I promised to oversee this project while Inky was away but, obviously, cannot control it on my own.

It's time for some external intervention!:whip:

Huh. That's odd. I just noticed that there was a double post. Could one of the mods delete the first of the two posts? Thank you.

Good. Although, at this rate, you can expect to wait a year or more. Oh, and welcome to The Raven!:whip:

:D Your photos are different & fun. For some reason, I really like the North Face shots, especially the one of Indy sitting on the climbing rope. The fish is cool, too. Capturing the figure with animals as main features (like my swan pics) is something for future hosts to keep in mind. Makes for more of a 'living moment'.

Keep 'em comin', couillon!:p

Thanks, Stoo for the welcome. :) I figured as such it may take awhile. I may be taking a trip to the UAE (Abu Dhabi) late this year/early next year, so if it happens to make it to me at that point, I'll have to find some creative shots to top Le Sab's. :whip:

Incidentally on the list, I did add your notes and cleaned it up some. When time permits, I'll get back into updating it more, and hopefully get it to this part of thread soon.

Fruity umbrella drinks in enormous pineapples for everybody! Except Stoo!

But not too many or they'll have you climbing the rigging!

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/42281656@N05/13639597035" title="DSC01721 by rdbell25, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7210/13639597035_ebbfc87356_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="DSC01721"></a>

And when you climb the rigging you befriend large sweaty men that bring you back down to Earth.

You're welcome for the welcome, jsarino, and Abu Dhabi would be AMAZING but we'll see how things go. (Inky Skin is the ultimate decision-maker.)

Consider this: "Only in a leap from the lion's head will he prove his worth."

Great! However, the ideal record of the Google spreadsheet is: Day/Month/Year. It's clearer & more uniform (especially when specific daily dates aren't available) and, furthermore, it's the proper way.

WooHoo! Indy at the TONGA ROOM!(y) That photo reminds me of the Sex Pistol's, "Friggin' in the Riggin'". Indy on the pineapple with the parasol is absolutely wonderful but he looks totally wasted next to the Moai mug. Nice photographic triptych.:hat:
