When I made the thread titled "land on the moon," I thought about how cool it would be to travel in space! And I have made this thread to hear what others think about the chance to travel in space!
*Note: Lets try not to argue this time ,please? And keep on the main topic! This prevents what was said inside of "al-qaeda attacks London" and "any veterans here?" thread.
There certainly seems to be an increased interest in the development of commercial space flight. Of course, right now it's only in the realm of multi-millionaires, but who knows what successive decades might bring? I ran across an interesting article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that discusses the upcoming shuttle flight and the growing interest in commercial space flight. Having the opportunity to go "up there" would be an amazing experience.
P.S. Free registration at the Star-Telegram is required to view the article.
personally, i have no interest in flying into space or walk on moon. there are many places on earth i still have to travel to, space probably for me is the least interesting place of all the ones i've never seen yet. it would be expensive and pretty dangerous - and just to fly up there like hundreds of other people who can afford it? it won't be anything special anymore if anybody can go there. just my personal opinion.

Looking down at the Earth from space while floating in zero g's is a pretty nice sight if you ask me.
probably, yes, but for me it's neither worth the money, nor the risk, nor the preparation. mostly a matter of priorities i guess. it may be interesting but i've seen the photos and this sight is not so impressive for me anymore and there are cheaper ways to experience zero gravity.

Actually there is a cheaper way! When I when't to USA Space Camp we were put in a flight simulator that lets you experience zero gravity! It was so awsome! You got to feel like a real astronaut! At Universal Studios Califonia they have a ride called "Superman". When you reach the top of the drop you do experience zero gravity!

There is a novel by Jules Verne, of the exact same title as your thread.
Edit:
If you are a Boy Scout (actually, I'm not) or just recieve the magazine "Boy's Life", it had a clipping in this month's issue about for arout 3, or 4 grand you can go up in an airplane which maneuvers in patterns that lets you experience zero gravity, mars gravity, etc. etc.
