Question Is Henry Jones Sen. american or scottish?

Hi, i always wondered if Sean Connery spoke with an american accent in LC or with a scottish accent?
I read in a german Indianapedia that Henry Jones Sen. was a scottish Professor.
Was there ever something revealed in the young indy series?

I dunno, but I always had the feeling that he tried an american accent (because it sounded very funny, but not very american, but not pure scottish)

Please move this thread if it rather fits to the young indy thread...

I always figured he was born in Scotland and later emigrated to the U.S. If that's not a Scottish accent, I don't know what is. I've never heard an American call someone a goose-shtepping moron before. Of course in The Untouchables, he did play an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. So who knows.

What does the official chronology say?

Lets not forget Connery has played Americans, Russians and Irishmen before, and didn't bother his lashy arshe to change his accent in any of those (The Hunt For Red october, The Untouchables for instance).

He did, however, manage to speak like a true Englishman while playing Bond.

As for Henry Sr., I agree with the notion that he was a Scotsman
who later emigrated to the U.S.

Lloyd Owen as young Henry Sr. was perfect!

Oo, I did know that at one time in my life. I was about to ask if he was raised in Scotland or England and what age he was orphaned at, but then I realized I'm on an Indy board and realized I could just use Wikipedia or something. lol

On topic, yeah, I always thought he immigrated. I think I read it somewhere, like indianajones.com's timeline from back in the day when the DVDs were released.

In "Spring Break Adventure" Indy and Henry visits Indy's Aunt and Uncle in New Mexico. They never state it outright but the Aunt clearly speaks with a Scottish accent. So that must be Henry's Sister who is married to an American. Presumably the Jones Family immigrated to the United States when Henry and his sister were young. But not so young that they would have dropped their native accents. Maybe when they were teenagers.
