Stripes

I love the movie Stripes. There was something I always wondered about that movie.

In an early scene Bill Murray is walking home and singing a song:

"One of these days is a thing that I want gonna be mine. But if it ain't that'll be all right as long as there's sunshine and a big ol' brew."

Is that an actual song? How does the rest of it go? Who wrote it? Who was the original artist? Did Bill Murray just make that up? These things keep me up at night. Please help.

Google find's this...

Big Ole Brew
(R. Smith)

Well I work a double shift at the plant & I work on the outside
& I'd a lot rather be home makin' love to my new bride
& there's only 2 things I want when I'm back in my double wide
& that's a big ole brew & little ole you

Now though you're workin' every day just as hard as I do
& if I didn't think that I might've loved you, I wouldn've have said "I do"
& there's only 2 things in the world that I need to get close to
& that's a big ole brew & little ole you

Now I got both ends meetin' in the middle
But I can't seem to get 'em tied
I don't care, long as I know you'll be by my side

(instrumental)

Well I got both ends meetin' in the middle
But I can't seem to get 'em tied
I don't care, long as I know you'll be by my side

Well, I ain't gonna work this hard every day of my lifetime
One of these days, everything I want's gonna be mine
But I think it'll be all right as long as there's sunshine
& a big ole brew & little ole you
I'll take a big ole brew & little ol' you

That is sooo funny, I went through this same problem last year. I actually remembered hearing bits and pieces of the song on the radio when I was a kid-so I Googled what lyrics I could remember, looked on the Stripes soundtrack, and had a full-on investigation for, like, two whole days before I finally found the song. It was almost like an obsession to find this song, but now I have it stored on my computer...think I'll listen to it now
