The point is Blade, some of us mad fools are of the opinion that KOTCS isn't a bad film, so I suppose we are coming from an entirely different standpoint to you. I don't think its as good as Last Crusade, but because I like KOTCS and LC is the film it is most similar too, I think its legitamate to compare the two, flaws and all.

As I have said in another thread, I am pushing 40 as are most of my friends, and we all found much to enjoy in KOTCS. Are you suggesting we all have the mental age of less than 9 just because we like something you don't? I mean, my Wife may support your arguement, but I think its a rather sweeping statement. Some of us oldies just like to have some FUN at the flicks!

The tree part doesn't really bother me - we see Marion have a look around and sight the tree and get the idea - so she doesn't just drive off the cliff by chance on to it. (Though I'd still worry even if I was aware I was going to drive off on to a tree!).

Although the waterfalls don't make me think "omgz! i can't like this! 3 waterfalls!" - I do think having made the waterfall scenes more "scary" could have worked. I mean, we see one drop, ok, that could have been amusing, like on TOD - then the next waterfall or 2 should have been dangerous (due to sheer size), Indy and co should have scrambled to the land or something in the rapid torrent of water. The waterfall scenes just "fill in" a minute and we know no danger is to come...

As they stand in the film for humour - that's ok. Could they have made it a more tension fueled segment, yep.

I LIKE Last Crusade DESPITE it’s numerous flaws/issues… That’s the point.

Also – Not meaning to be discourteous, but I ask your age because your syntax, idioms and debate style seem to indicate you are a young man (although I stand to be corrected). Therefore, I doubt that you are of an age where you were old enough to see Last Crusade in the cinema (on first release) with a more discerning/mature eye. Certainly, if you are under the age of 30 you would not really have any first hand recollection of the criticisms that were leveled at Last Crusade 19 years ago (so you can’t really comment on that element).

What a load of cock and bull you patronising sod. Its you who likes the childish cartoon of KOTCS. What a joker.

Negated ALL the points made? You say that the POINT (singular) is that you like LC even though you think it contains many flaws. (Which is peverse). Its hardly a difficult concept to understand is it or one that I'm trying to negate.

Basically you've hung your hat on KOTCS and its a complete bag of ****e. Be man enough to admit it.

Now explain how is Ox a good character? How would Raiders have been a laughing stock if Marion swung through the trees like a chimp? Errand boy!

For me personally I felt the action sequences were quite satisfying. Sure a little more tension would've helped, but overall I thought they were equal to some of the other stuff in the previous three.

Blade,

You prove my point well. I don't think you ever saw the original movies in the cinema (or perhaps LC as a fetus). Which just goes to highlight that you would have absolutely no first hand knowledge of the criticisms against TOD and LC when first released. Ergo – you cannot pass objective/informed comment.

You are taking a contrary position only for the sake of it. As already stated – your syntax, idioms and vocabulary are very naive, so I think you are 18 at the most (either that or you are the result of a very poor education). Either way, attempting to debate intelligently with you is akin to explaining fusion to a donkey i.e. pointless. You have my previous comments. Go read.

Darth

Great insults mate. I feel we will be going round in circles if I continue to ask for answers to my points raised. Also for the record you are incorrect about your assumptions above, but think what you like.

There will be people who use the Raven who are under 18 and may have had a poor education and I don't think they will appreciate your half witted snobbish comments. Some people can't help their age and the level of lifestyle they are brought up in. But as you are a big lover of people surviving nuked fridges, I don't think you have a grasp on the real world.

Finally, you have my sympathy and contempt for thinking that KOTCS is any good.

Regards as always.

I wasn't really trying to insult you to be honest. Just frustrated that you are proving youself to be what others have called you out for.

Re. age and education. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt (as in too young to know any better), but as you are stating that you are, in fact, over the age of 30... I can only come to same conclusion that others on these boards have already arrived at. Which is a shame really as I thought you'd started to listen to, and take on board, what others had to say.

Darth, that last paragraph is pretty lame pal.

I'll leave you alone now and I will enjoy watching you argue your point on other threads, especially the one with Quickening and the man and any others who don't apprecaite KOTCS.

The actions scenes didn't disappoint, but I wish Indy did more whip work.

Yeah, he used that twice in the whole movie, and he never fired a single gun ;_;

Raiders whip usage: 6 I believe(whip gun, swing across pit, whip hot steel, keep enemies at bay, hang from truck, whip up giant statue)
Temple whip usage: 5 I believe(swing across to Sankara stones, whip the attacker in bedroom, whip sword from Thugee, swing across planks, sexy whip > Wille)
Last Crusade whip usage: 3 I believe(lion scene, swing in Nazi castle, save Henry Sr. on tank)

The usage went down every movie

C'mon Indy, don't forget the whip!

For me, the jungle action was the worst of the bunch - I could still tolerate the other ones well enough, but the ridiculously long driving scene with all the twists and turns into more ridiculousness really ruined it for me - worst of all the Tarzan impersonation and CGI monkeys...

Nope. He used it just as much in Crusade.
1. To grab gun from solidier in beggining.
2. To swing towards Spalkos truck but fails
3. To save Mac at the end but again fails.

Oh yeah, I forgot that last one, simply because I always hated that part, it was just pretty lazy how it was shot. It made it appear as if Mac was simply too lazy to get up, and then he said that stupid line "I'm gonna be ok", when obviously he's not because you just got sucked into a giant vortex.

Also, I saw a picture in the Official Indiana Jones Magazine where he used the whip against those ninja warriors or whatever in the cemetery. That would have made that scene twice as cool.

Isn't there a convention or union which hands out awards for outstanding stunt-work? Will Indy 4 be among the recipients - or even among the nominees?

Funny, I was playing a game called Stuntman Ignition yesterday, and it appears there is a Taurus World Stunts award show. Arnold Schwarzenegger was there, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, a bunch of crazy stunts too. That had a montage of the the top ten stunts, two of them were 1. Indiana under the truck and 2. Indiana leaps from horse to tank(my personal favorite).

Interesting to see... I'm not even sure what they would classify as a stunt now. For example, would a stuntman doing a jump with a harness (to be digitally removed) still qualify? Do they even do those sort of stunts anymore considering that a large proportion of danger can now be removed by using digital effects???
