Could you please explain, Horsey? AndyLGR posted in the active 'James Bond 23' thread. Is there another thread? Nothing comes up on a search.

'Skyfall' plot sees MI6 "under attack", James Bond loyalty to M tested
Published Thursday, Nov 3 2011, 13:57 GMT | By Simon Reynolds
A short synopsis for the 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall has been unveiled.
Details of Daniel Craig's latest outing as the British secret agent were released through the official James Bond 007 Twitter account.
Skyfall will see Bond at loggerheads with his boss M (Judi Dench) as a figure from her past emerges.
"Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her," the official plot synopsis reads. "As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."
The movie will not relate to an original Fleming story, but the title "has some emotional context which will be revealed in the film," according to producer Barbara Broccoli.
Growing up in the 80’s Bond films were a staple of xmas night premieres, mainly the Moore ones and when I was younger he was by far my favourite Bond at that time. But over the years I’ve come to think that actually I prefer the Connery movies. For me From Russia with Love is the perfect James Bond film. Its like Raiders of the Lost Ark in that I can watch it and never get tired of it.
I think that Diamonds are Forever set the tone for the Roger Moore movies, as that certainly had more slapstick humour in it than films previous. But of the Moore movies I really enjoy For Your Eyes Only and The Spy who Loved Me. But I still think this whole era of Bond is very entertaining despite the over the top humour. It’s a shame it tailed off with his last 2, I think he was too old to play the role by then.
OHMSS is another solid entry in the series, I actually like Lazenby in this and I think it’s a pity he didn’t do more. But I can only imagine how good this movie would have been with Connery in the lead.
I also think that Timothy Daltons movies are very underrated, I think he got the series back on to a more serious track and for me he really convinces as Bond, in much the same way that Connery did. I’m sure I read somewhere that movies like Lethal Weapon influenced the violence seen in License to Kill.
Brosnan made a really solid start with Goldeneye, and his next 2 I enjoy watching as well. But as for DAD, the invisible car, the windsurfing off the falling ice pack and the plane that continues to fly despite having a “laser” cutting it to ribbons were just too far fetched for me. Those scenes make it one of the worst in the whole series.
Daniel Craig I think quelled any uncertainty over what type of Bond he would be with Casino Royale, which is a really strong film. Its disappointing they followed it with a very weak story for QOS. Hopefully they learn from that one with Skyfall.

Not only is "On Her Majesty's..." a great entry but it has my favourite opening theme out of the entire series. (Plus, it has Diana Rigg!)
Raiders112390 started this thread and he recently stated elsewhere that he likes to pretend that OHMSS doesn't exist. This I find amusing since every Bond afficianado who I know personally considers it one of the best Bond films. One of my friends just bought the new making of OHMSS book and says that it is excellent.
Blofeld's mountaintop hideaway was filmed at the top of Mt. Schilthorn here in Switzerland and I've been up there. They have a lot of Bond merchandise for sale in the gift shop and the 007 logo has been painted in various places. There is also a room with photos, etc. from the filming:
This looks quite beautiful. Loving what I'm seeing so far. And if what I've heard is correct this Bond film takes quite an interesting turn concerning M.
Tom Hardy fancies a crack at playing James Bond...
Nolan?
Get Hardy to star, Nolan to script, and Spielberg to direct, and it'll be the best Bond of all time. And this is coming from a die-hard Craig-as-Bond fan.
An abandoned action sequence from "GoldenEye" will be used in "Skyfall". It was supposed to take place on a train bridge so the scene being filmed in Turkey must be it.
Trivia: Golden Eye was the name of Ian Fleming's house in Jamaica.

Speaking of changes, Baccarat is Bond's card game of choice. I wonder if those same fans were angry that the game in "Casino Royale" was changed from Baccarat to Texas Hold 'Em poker!
Saw Skyfall today and thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot was much less messy than quantum of solace, in fact it's simplicity is possibly a by product of the last movie.
I thought javier bardem was suitably weird and it was nice to see judi dench play a prominent role.
Without giving anything away it seems as though this film brings things full circle.

50 Years of James Bond Cars!
"Top Gear" is having a special about Bond cars tonight on BBC2. (Announced a few weeks ago but it starts in 1.5 hours.)
50 Years of Bond Cars: A Top Gear Special: "Richard Hammond celebrates 50 years of James Bond films with a look back at the franchise's vehicles, including the Aston Martin DB5 and the Lotus Esprit. Richard also talks to silver-screen 007s Daniel Craig and Roger Moore, goes behind the scenes on the latest Bond adventure Skyfall, and attempts to turn a Lotus into a fully working submarine car."
For car lovers, Bond fans and/or a mixture of the two...

Top Gear is such a fun show. I get BBC America, so I probably won't be able to see it, but that sounds like a good episode.

O.K. Gonzo, the show just finished and it was FANTASTIC! Richard Hammond is obviously a fan (as he is with Evel Knievel, etc.). Lots of great info/footage on the film cars...PLUS, they achieved a submarine Lotus (but it wasn't an Espirit, it was with an Excel. No matter, they 'apparently' did it)!
BBC Canada airs the series a few months behind so I'm pretty confident that BBC America will eventually show this at some point, Gonzo.

Good news, Andy. "Skyfall" doesn't start in the Switz until next week. Glad you liked it, though, because your opinion counts!
