For 36 separate head sculpts I believe. He's charging what a company like Hasbro would pay for his services which is fair enough - just not sure anyone on a fan forum would bite at that price. Where's tnswman when you need him ?
As I wrote, he's a very talented sculptor, but he'd be better off trying to sell them separately, since a lot of them are of characters already made by Hasbro.

Yeah - I forsee a C&D in his future. It just saddens me that such talent isn't recognised by the major toy companies.
I've followed Evergrey's work for a while on the RS forums and I believe that, at one point, he actually mailed some of these sculpts to Hasbro, offering them up for free and they politely declined. It sucks, because his sculpts are way better than most of what Hasbro puts out. The paintwork on these does really bring them down though...it's a little too much detail for 3 3/4" scale figures IMO. As he mentions in the thread, minimal "action figure" paint apps would have worked a lot better than the attempt at realism.
Ahh, very cool! I didn't know you had such a large collection. The only customs I would be interested in at that size are the Temple of Doom cast. That said, they're all pretty cool. Your Crystal Skull crew needs an Oxley, and Marion.Love the Mac figure,he's a great character. Can't wait to see Indy,Shorty, and Willie in the line-up.
lol! thanks man! Yeah I will update my video as soon as I finish Willie. I would like to have them 3 sitting in a mine card ! Like I have Indy and Dad on that german bike. Making an old Marion is hard cause there are no heads available that look like her in the 4th movie. ANd I really kind of hated Oxley, but true he should be there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder why they didn't make Oxley be Marion's dad , that would have been really interesting since they said he was dead in the first movie....
I just finished making my TOD White Tuxedo Indiana Jones. This is my first custom action figure I have ever done. I learned a lot doing this figure and will most likely do "White Tux Indy" again and try to sell this one off on eBay.
I also just ordered a custom Vintage Kenner card back to put the figure on! I am very excited!

Sure, but you can't expect to create your own items, set your own prices and try to charge "professional" rate prices for a market that doesn't really exist.
Sure, he would draw that kind of comparable salary if he was a Hasbro employee. And even though his skill set does seem in line with what Hasbro is doing, that doesn't translate to charging comparable fees if you're taking something (as an amateur) directly to the consumer.
Steve Jobs (RIP) can't charge me a million dollars for an iPhone just because that's how much he gets paid at apple to create it. Or even because that's the amount of R&D apple put into developing the item.
if Steve only made one single iPhone and tried to sell it for a million, he'd be laughed out of the room.
I can't spend two years of my life creating a gorgeous velvet painting of the Hamburglar making love to Dick Cheney and expect people to shell out $500,000 for it because "Hey, I spent two years of my life on this!"
There's just no market at that price. That's why Tri Gate Creations (or whatever it's now called), Broken Arrow and others charge a few bucks a head. They are trying to sell a LOT of them. That's a workable business model.

I really like your custom. Simple, but clean and very effective. I bought one of those DCU figures, too, and tried to remove the arms (the shoulders are a bit wonky looking, alas), but, man, those shoulder joint rings DO NOT COME OFF!!!!
Anyway, well done and welcome to the wonderful world of customs!

This may just be the funniest thing that I have ever read on the Raven!

I finally took some pictures so I thought I'd make a post here. Nothing too fabulous - mostly some figures I've wanted to try for quite a while, and a few fun items. Many of them appeared in the corny traveling Indy comic, so I'll just give a taste here and refer you to http://home.comcast.net/~IndianaJonesToys/index.htm if you like to view all the fun stuff, including tourist Indy!
Here's one I call 'bad weather Indy' - a traveling Indy for when the stormy stuff starts.
Another attempt to get Brody, this time in his blue suit from Raiders.

I used that same 21st Century jacket for a nameless gangster I created, the color matches Indy's arms perfectly! If you went one step further and lightened the color a bit, you could make Indy in his shortest on-screen incarnation (not a great pic, but you can see him in the back seat wearing his trench):

I ALWAYS learn something from a Ravener! I think I know the movies but never noticed this before. Thanks for pointing it out.
This is my first attempt at a custom, and she's far from finished; Marion as she appeared in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a glaring gap in the collection, (admittedly, the other figs were pretty awful, and not terribly accurate), and I really liked her "explorer" look in the film that put her right into the action. "Skull" is a fairly guilty pleasure of mine, as I've warmed to its dubious charms through repeated viewings when I grow weary of "Doom" or "Raiders",and I've even come to appreciate Marion's evolved, more maternal role.
All of the alterations to her costume, (slicing away pants pockets, vest pockets, whittling the vest down from essentially a cube to a feminine shape, etc) were done with a kitchen knife. I have no customizing tools, only figure parts, and an eye for detail.
I still need to paint her shirt a pale robin's egg blue/seafoam,and sculpt a shirt collar, maybe a hint of her camisole. I also need to sculpt an extra half inch or so onto her pants to form cuffs, and create the longer, baggier look of the film. The neck was modified with a neck post to take the head,(it was originally a neck-less stump),and the flesh needs to be smoothed to form a uniform piece, and the necklace painted gold, like Marion's tiny chain/ pendant in the movie. The hair was done a medium brown, but needs to be much lighter, (I may swap the hairpiece for the wavier Pirates of the Caribbean Anjelica hair, and sculpt bangs). The vest needs to be filled in with sculpey where I got hack-happy,maybe extended slightly but so as not to restrict movement. The original figure had no breasts to speak of,so those will need to be added, despite my attempt to angle the chest in to suggest them.
Thanks,CAZAFANTASMA.I figured for using a steak knife and sandpaper to customize, it wasn't a bad first effort. I'm considering having someone else finish her, as I have zero painting/sculpting experience. Any takers?
CAZA, I saw your Mola Ram custom on eBay,it looks awesome! How's the rest of the Temple crew coming?
Thanks so much,Billy Ray! The method was borne of wanting a Crystal Skull Marion at 1 A.M. and having none of the necessary tools as a result of having never customized. I heated the feet under hot running water to pop them out of the ankle joint and switch 'em with a G.I. JOE female's. I kept the figure under that same faucet to soften the hard plastic, and started slicing away bulk, ( pockets, unwanted creases,) and scoring the plastic to give the vest a linen look with less sheen, pausing the DVD for detail on Marion's actual vest, hair, etc. Was the next order...but again, thanks for the kudos. There's some pretty great stuff on here by some talented people, and I'm essentially a newbie where that's concerned.
