crescent moon photo

Hello all,

I was trying to find the location where the photograph clip was taken looking through binoculars at the canyon of the crescent moon but all I get is filming locations near Hatay and Petra.

Does anyone know if this clip through binoculars is an actual canyon we can look up on Google Earth or was it just some photo of a canyon that was altered to look like a crescent moon to fit the movie?

Hi, Axelan. It's not real. The canyon appears to be a matte painting on glass superimposed over a background plate (filmed in the Tabernas desert of Almeria, Spain).

Either that or the entire terrain is a painting. Many Spanish fans have scoured the area and found pretty much every location but I've yet to see anybody identify these particular mountain ranges.

If this wasn't done by matte artist, Yusei Uesugi, then I'd like to know who painted it.

Thank you for the response. It is a beautiful image and if such a canyon did exist it seems likely it would be well known.
