Can we get Indy around the globe ?

Whoah, this is quite the place.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_011.jpg

Not important for the narrative, but I love how this shot came out.

Huh, that looks familiar...

It belongs to the Lao Che family! I've been set up. It's a trap!

Tune in tomorrow for Part 2!

Great to see some nice atmospheric SF shots and love that you have a story going!

Haven't been in SF in a while. How are the nighttime pan handlers these days? (Had a couple of dubious run-ins which might be putting me off going...)

San Francisco Part 2

I'll try more than one image per post...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_015.jpg

I hear them coming up the stairs. Better slip out on this balcony.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_016.jpg

No other way down. Alley-oop!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_017.jpg

I should have used that fire escape.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_018.jpg

Oh no, they're after me!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_019.jpg

Maybe I can lose them in these alleys...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_020.jpg

Quick, down here...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_021.jpg

Through this shop...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_022.jpg

Great, now I'm lost. If only I had some way to figure out where I was.

The caper continues...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_023.jpg

They're still after me. Hey, a Cable Car!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_024.jpg

It's not stopping. Maybe...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_025.jpg

:whip:

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_026.jpg

Better luck next time, boys!!

Quick, name two continuity errors!

Stay tuned for Part 3, coming up tomorrow.

I'll have a crack at that:

1) The cable car switches from the left-side track to the right.

2) The cable car that is passing Indy is the Powell & Hyde line and the one he whips onto is the Powell & Mason line. The clue is the yellow sign on the back of the Powell & Mason car (which is the line we rode on our visit.)

Anyway, Tash, your photos are STUNNING. They are so crisp & clear! Love the shots, the narrative, etc. Way to go!:hat:

Happy Birthday, by the way!:D

Ding, ding!

#2 is spot on. #1 is close enough - the earlier shot is on a one-way street, whereas the later shot with the actual whip (I meant to get a close-up of it wrapped around the rear break) is on a two-way street.

Thanks! And now, on we go...

Part 3: Tourists, why did it have to be tourists!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_027.jpg

I'm safe for now, but I've got to get out of the city! How far does this thing go?

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_028.jpg

Fisherman's Wharf. For some reason, this makes me think of dad. These boats just go in circles, though. I better keep looking.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_029.jpg

Whoah, a submarine!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_030.jpg

The U.S.S. Pampanito, served in WWII.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_031.jpg

It's a nice ship, but I don't want to spend another night lashed to a periscope with my whip. What else is here?

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_032.jpg

The "Liberty Ship", Jeremiah O'Brien. Carried a lot of supplies to our boys during the war. A fine ship, but it's not setting out for a cruise today.

A brief distraction

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_033.jpg

An amusement gallery of some sort. I can hide in here for a while.
Hey, Harry! I'm parched - got anything bubbly?

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_034.jpg

"Smash the Atom" without my refrigerator? No thanks.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_035.jpg

This game looks like it could be fun.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_036.jpg

Only second place! I'm not as good as I thought.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_037.jpg

Maybe I'll do better at this game. It seems a little familiar...

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_038.jpg

Hey, that airplane reminds me - I need to keep moving! Those goons could be catching up while I'm lollygagging in here.

Tune in tomorrow for Part 4!

The trick is wearing headphones, walking quickly, and avoiding eye contact!

Ya I was with a group so didn't do #1, and #2 and #3 weren't enough apparently. A case of wrong place, wrong time I guess.

It's always so obvious once pointed out!! :D Shows how movies a) make errors and also b) how they get away with it so often!

Loving the story and was LMAO at the use of the whip! :whip:

I haven't commented on this thread in a while and I owe several of you some detailed feedback for the past couple of AMAZING pages.

But first, a question - I'll be following in Indy's foosteps -

I'm going to San Francisco next week!

Any suggestions for off-beat, hidden, unusual or just plain cool things to do, see, places to eat, drink, etc. etc.?

Any and all suggestions welcome!!

Um, practically everything. Walk a block in any direction in SF and you'll be somewhere new and amazing.

Can you be more specific about where you'll be staying, how long you have to look around, and what some of your interests are? Walking, art, entertainment, scenery, people watching, shopping, food, ...?

Feel free to ping me with any specific questions, via PM!

Episode 4: A New Hope

Ready for today's installment? I know I am!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_039.jpg

?Travel to Far Off Distant Lands? - That sounds about right

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_040.jpg

On second thought, that?s a little farther than I wanted to go!

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_041.jpg

I know, I?ll take that rowboat.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_042.jpg

Hrmmmm. It looked a lot smaller from farther away.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_043.jpg

Now I?m lost again. If only I could find something to tell me where I am.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_044.jpg

It?s some sort of museum of boats. The sign says that big one is the Balclutha.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_045.jpg

San Francisco Bay "Ark"? Doesn?t look like any Ark I?ve ever seen.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_046.jpg

The schooner C. A. Thayer, as seen in 1912. Hey, that guy looks familiar. Leather jacket. Shaggy hair. Fedora. Could it be...?

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_047.jpg

There?s Alcatraz. My old "friend" Al did a stint there, and he deserved it.

TravellingIndyinSanFrancisco_048.jpg

I need to catch my breath. I?ll relax on this beach for just a minute.

Tune in tomorrow for another exciting installment! Same Indy time, same Indy channel.

We'll be staying at the "Lower Nob Hill" area close to Union Square park, not far from Chinatown, etc.

Anything you can suggest that might be a cool site or whatever.

Also looking for good lunch/brunch spots.

Anything you can suggest would be really appreciated!!! Thanks!!

The Maltese Falcon

John's Grill
63 Ellis Street
San Francisco
(Near Powell Street BART Station and Market Street)

Dashiell Hammett, author of The Maltese Falcon, used to eat here.

Ah, the Tenderloin. :)

Plan a night out at the Tonga Room, which is just up the hill. And if the weather holds, check out Golden Gate Park. Marengo on Union is a great place to brunch if you want to avoid the throngs of hipsters in the Mission.

For some of my favorite spots, stay tuned.
