I have a Toshiba HD-A3 and from hitting the power button to the dvd/hd-dvd playing, it's about a minute and change. Maybe a minute and a half at the most, and I'm stretching that estimate.

Man, great player. I bought it back when Toshiba was giving them away for free basically. Now, they are back up to $250 at Amazon!

I'm not going to Blu-Ray until they make it so I have no choice. Cheaper, more stable players. Better use of the storage space on the discs. Premium extras, instead of the recycled standard edition extras.

In other words, they are going to have to work really hard to get me, cause I've already been double and triple-dipped on titles in standard dvd. I'm not going through that again.

I can wait it out. I have the patience*! :)

* When/If Kingdom comes out on Blu, I will be getting a player. Lucas apparently doesn't want to release his films on hd yet because, well, he's Lucas and he has to make us beg for it I guess.

So, while I'll admit that I'll cave for Kingdom in hd, I also know that it may be a ways off anyway.

I went for the Sony bdp-s300, which stung me for 480 Euro. However, the upgraded bdp-s500 still retails at a stonking 900 Euro! Outrageous! The only difference between the two is that the latter has more audio capabilities. Your definitely best to wait, alright.

Might as well wait until 2009 like I am.
I prefer it when a BD and more HDDVD has carried over the SDDVD extras. I look at HD disc media as upgrading and if it means I can sell off the SD version no problem, then so be it. I'm a huge fan of extras anyway. Well, the well produced kind and not marketing type crap.
I believe the following link to my DVD collection, sans Harry Potter crap since I have no interest in it, will speak for itself. Oh, I import alot too.

Ahh, you love Casino, too! Now wouldn't that look stunning in HD.

Not on Blu-Ray, though. Damn it!
So what? I'm only buying Blu-rays which are 100% exclusive to the format. And I'm awaiting alot of older titles to arrive on the format before I officially jump on it in 2009.

I'll give you a KotCS DVD wish...

I wish they wouldn't make one and we could all pretend this movie never really happened.
This isn't a thread to bash the film dammit. GTFO. Thanks for trolling.
What? Are you a new Indiana Jones fan?

Since she dislikes the new film so much it's far more likely she's an old time fan.

I've been an Indiana Jones fan for over 20 years. Could be I also enjoy older films too, even as far back as the 1920's and even 1910's. So yes I deem KotCS worthy of my DVD collection.

And please keep this thread about the discussion of the DVD release. No more off-topics please or inerrant thread-sh!tting.

Well even though I think KOTCS isn't worthy of the trilogy, I meant that if she was new to Indy and saw KOTCS she'd probably just dismiss the series and move on. But the fact that she's here actively voicing her dislike probably means she had more invested in it.

EDIT: nevermind I dont know why im having this conversation now

And you're threadcrapping why? Discuss what you'd like to see for the DVD release.

I for one would like to see, which I know, how much time and effort went into making the sets. And of course a large discussion concerning what led up to the film for prior adventures.
It isn't worthy of the Trilogy only due to the fact it isn't like the previous films and they actually tried something new. Yes, shocking the filmmakers were also inspired from the films of the time. Question is, do you also watch older films or only newer ones? Yeah, the Trilogy took place in the mid-late 1930's whilst KotCS is in the 1950's. Voice your displeasure with the film in the Haters thread and leave that sh!t out of mine.

Also, an inspiration type featurette would also be nice.

I was just responding to your suggestion that she was a new fan which wouldn't be a logical conclusion. However I can see that you're one of the zealots who can't bear someone suggesting the film isn't gold so I'll leave it there without answering your ridiculous question.

The basics:

OAR, anamorphic DTS 5.1 (although, these are givens)

Would be nice to also have:

7.1 DTS audio track

Isolated score audio track

Russian Translation Subtitles (Snowball's chance in Hell of seeing this)

I'm a commentary junkie, but is there any hope for one on Kingdom? I know Spielberg won't do one. I don't see Ford doing one. Lucas?

In terms of featurettes, I hope they include the IESB BTS featurettes. If they include those, I'll be set. Seriously.

Nice featurettes to have:

Set Design

Actor Interviews (something besides the fluff promo variety)

Beards Interviewed

Stuntwork / Fencing Sessions

Special Effects / CGI

Costume Design

The Evolution of All the Scripts (We'll NEVER see this!)

and, maybe some unexpected segments on things like...

The Indy NASCAR win

Indy Fans Gone Wild!

Sparky

It would be nice to have a picture gallery, with posters, marketing tie-ins, promo shots, etc etc. Unfortunately, this seems to be a feature more prevalent on dvd releases of older films.

If they had all the trailers and tv spots, I would be having flashbacks to all those early mornings I would race to the Raven forum to see if a new trailer/tv spot had been posted yet. :D

I would love it if they included all the cross-promo ads...like the commercials for M&M's, which I still haven't seen. :(

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of dvd extras that have fallen into that category.

It will be interesting to see if KOTCS gets the same type of treatment that the prequels received. One extra I really want to see is footage of Harrison practicing the whip on set.

And, as I mentioned in another thread, maybe an extra that is just ten minutes of Karen Allen smiling at the camera.

PLEEEEASE come on Blu-Ray man. I got like 30+ Blu-Rays already, but Indy is number one on my list.

I want the Indy films on Blu-Ray, and I'll even give my KOTCS disc free to anyone on this board who wants it.

Yech.
