Thumbs up Exhibit Promo Truck & Lucas at the Grand Prix

On June 3rd, Rocket Surgeon posted a photo of the promotional truck in post #138.

According to my best buddy, 2 weeks later during Grand Prix weekend*, it was parked FULL-TIME just a few blocks from my place in Montreal. (The hippest street in the city is Saint Laurent so during each Grand Prix season, it is always lined with Formula 1 racers on display and other sh!t-hot cars owned by the fat-cats who come for the event.)

My friend lives 1 block away and he said that the Indy truck was was parked there, CONSTANTLY BLARING the music of the "Raiders March"! The back was loaded with crates marked "Property of Dr. Jones" and one crate was far away from the truck sitting on a sidewalk! Unfortunately, I wasn't in town to see it.

Since then, the truck has been travelling around the province, making appearances in Laval, Granby and Quebec City.

*George Lucas was in Montreal for the 2011 Grand Prix! It is highly likely that George checked out the Indy Exhibit but I haven't found any reports to confirm this...

That's very cool. Not so cool that it was so close to your place when you weren't. Would've been fun trying to liberate that lone crate. (Dr. Jones would have approved, I'm sure).

Just got back from the exhibit again. I took a lot of new photos to replace the ones I lost and got a good recording of the Harrison Ford audio!

There was also a lot of new T-shirts and other merchandise for sale. More details later because I heading back to Switzerland now.

Mitch, no pins but there were posters. The gift shop has expanded since the I was there in April. Now they have statuettes, Official Magazines, etc. The selection of books is still on sale. There were also 9 NEW T-shirts designs (for a grand total of 11).

Below are flyers on a lampost in the median centre of René Lévesque Boulevard* (formerly Dorchester Boulevard).

*This is a rare occasion where I will call Dorchester Boulevard by it's new name...René Lévesque was a separtist a**hole!

The official site still has no update on future cities. C'mon NORTH AMERICA, this is your chance to see the things up close & personal! Only 2 months left to go! Make the trip to Montreal before it's too late. (The exhibit ends September 18th!)

Marion Marion Ravenwood's Shoes

O.K. Here is a photo dedicated to Violet - our resident Marion Fan Extraordinaire. A couple of years back, she asked about Marion's shoes and I said that their colour appeared to be burnt sienna to which she (partially) disagreed. (She was also partially correct.)

Anywho, for Violet, may I present...Marion's shoes!

Folks, get away from your computer, your video games & your comic books. TRAVEL! See the world before you die. Get your lazy ass up (or over) to MONTREAL for the INDY EXHIBITION!

Re: Merchandise...These were the ONLY 2 T-shirts for sale in April 2011.

NOW, these are AVAILABLE in JULY 2011. Get 'em while they're hot!

You were on my mind, Violet, when I took the photos of Marion's costume. Here are some more for you:

I will say this, I have a new appreciation for Marion's outfit after seeing the detail in these pictures Stoo, thank you for posting them! At a later stage perhaps we can use them over in the costume thread too, when we get to this outfit!

Its cool that you went Stoo!

I would love to attend this, if only this were coming to the states. I don't have much money or time to travel to Canada. Shame, this is the most exciting thing to happen to Indiana Jones since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull(or maybe Staff of Kings) and will continue to be until the original trilogy comes to Blu-Ray.

Were they selling any fedoras?

So, Stoo, if you happen to pop in...any further enticements that the discerning Indy fan might appreciate while in Montreal? The charm of the old city? The historic Expo grounds? The vistas of Mount Royal?

Rocket, you must be confusing me with the French chick from X3 Productions who you spoke with on the telephone. What was her name? Manon?

There are no coloured fedoras for sale. The only fedora at the gift stand is a cheap version for kids. (But the amount of merchandise now available is MUCH larger than before.)

Sorry for the late reply, Attila...I was away on vacation. Unfortunately, you have missed most of Montreal's summer fun (as addressed to you in post #130). However:

- Old Montreal is worth visiting. The exhibit is right *IN* Old Montreal! Fine restaurants and art galleries abound and Pointe-à-Callière provides a great, multi-media historical/archaeological experience. You can also take your sweetheart on a horse-driven cabriolet ride through the cobblestone streets. Montreal is one of the oldest cities in North America! Some buildings date back to the 1700s & early 1800s. There is A LOT to see!

- On the smaller islands, there isn't much left from the 1967 Expo. What remains is the giant, geodesic sphere of the American pavilion (designed by the great, Buckminster Fuller) which is now home to the Montreal Biodome and the France pavilion which is now the Casino. (Yes, you can gamble in Montreal! It's the Las Vegas of Canada.) Another '67 remnant is the amusement park, La Ronde...Updated every year but it still ain't Disney quality!

- Mont Royal vista? Yes. Go to the Southern lookout for the best view. (Go to the Eastern lookout and you'll see my street!)

- PLUS, you can indulge in Montreal's famous smoked meat (Schwartz's is recommended) and famous Montreal bagels (the TRUEST & BEST North American bagel) at Fairmount or St. Viateur...

Plan your trip. Do it NOW. Chance of lifetime if you're a fan of such things...(One other PROMINENT Indy Fan is making the voyage and will be there on the 2nd to last day before it closes!) The exhibit ends on September 18th! One month left to visit!

This photo is dedicated to Attila:

P.S. You can also check out the Olympic Stadium from the 1976 Olympics! Poorly constructed but it's a beauty!

Here's a floor-to-ceiling wall mural near the entrance to the exhibit:

"Crystal Skull" has an equal amount of coverage compared to the original 3 films. It was not ignored at all. Here's an example:

The exhibit also has Spalko's dossier, Spalko's uniform, Oxley's outfit, Oxley's letters, Mutt's motorcycle, Mutt's outift, Mutt's props, Orellana's mask, Orellana's corpse, the crystal skull, a FULL SIZED crystal skeleton (in its chair) and Indy's beige suit!

HOORAY, Attila! I'm so pleased to hear that you are going! Did my enticements work? Too bad I wasn't in Montreal right now because it be fun to meet up. (PM me if you want some restaurant recommendations.) Have a GREAT time!

Give yourself a minimum of 2-3 hours for the exhibit (one could easily spend more time than that). If you bring a camera and are willing to sneak some snapshots, there are a couple of items where my photos turned out rather poor.
-Willie's fascinator
-Vest buttons on Indy's tux.
-Henry Sr.'s pocket watch

Note: Ne cherches pas pour l'œuf. La photo est une blague!

Rocket, I got good, clean audio of Harrison's intro and am preparing a submission to the IndyCast. I can post a transcription here but will wait until Attila leaves so as to not spoil it for him (as well as posting more photos).

Maybe PM me the text...it would be nice to hear it on the show first, though it might be a while until the next one.

Was it in character?
