Quotes, taken out of context, and missing references are worthless...
All of them are from his Wikipedia entry...

Instead of reading HIS work, you paw through what other people have said about him looking for ANY detraction....
Much like you've done with Christianity
ClintonHammond said:
If I treated your 'opinion', your side of the discussion like that, you'd flip out.
That's exactly how you've treated my opinion since day one...it's only been recently that you transferred that same disrespect to me personally...
ClintonHammond said:
It's really obvious to me you don't know squat about evolution, and out of fear for your fragile little 'faith' you're afraid to even look at it very closely...
I used to subscribe to it, CH...but the pieces don't fit. I wanted to believe anything other than what I was force-fed as a child. I found out that a materialist-only explanation didn't make sense...no matter how many text-books or encyclopedias or Discovery Channel specials I watched. There is more to man than matter.
ClintonHammond said:
But you want others to be tagged as "Close-minded"...
Actually, that was the moniker you stuck me with, bub...
ClintonHammond said:
Typical, really. Thanks again, for affirming my opinion of religious people. (Not that I needed another example)
I make no apologies for my faith...what you've experienced with other folks has no bearing on me. I offered/continue to offer nothing but respect for you. If a difference of well-considered, oft-revised opinion is all it takes to hack you off, Via con Darwin...but don't expect me to quit espousing my view around here.

"Much like you've done with Christianity"
You assume that's what I've done... and you only weaken your side further by doing so. You have ZERO inclination what my "experience" with any religion has been, cause I haven't told you. You just WANT to think that I'm sunk to your level, but wanting something doesn't make it so....

"There is more to man than matter."
Show me ONE single shred of well supported evidence....

"that was the moniker you stuck me with"
If the shoe fits....

"all it takes to hack you off"
I'm not 'hacked off' in the least.... There's no need to be. if you need to THINK I'm hacked off, well, there's precious little I can do about that, but it says more about you than it does about me.

Doesn't mean that, should we ever meet face-to-face, the first round isn't still on me... I'm sure we're capable of hiaving a grand old time over a couple of pints talking movies or what-have-you....

Nothing I've put forth is weakened...you've just not yet said one rebuttal to the Christian faith other than the uninformed ones I've heard before (ie, misogyny, ignorance, close-mindedness...none of which are applicable in the life of a true Christian).

It says nothing about me...other than a bit of confusion as to the sudden disrespect. I've done nothing to answer you that you haven't done with others of my persuasion. When I was visiting these boards a few months ago, you were at least civil. Now you do nothing but accuse and insult. Whether you're hacked off or not doesn't change my day one iota.

"a true Christian"
Fwwweeet! Foul.... Logical Fallacy... Ambiguity and Presumption.... Google "No True Scotsman" for more 411...

"Sentience"
One word isn't "well supported evidence" in the least.

I have a gig to go play.... enjoy yourself

It is when it's self-explanatory.

By the bye, are you downloadable anywhere? (Musically, mind you...you as Max Headroom would be untenable...)

Nevermind...I've made a friend of Google. And since a true Christian is a follower of Christ, and defineable by adherence to His teachings and His Person, it isn't near as vague as liking sugar in porridge.

But thanks for the giggle...I'd never heard that before.

Just by logging on! When will you learn, DocS? ;)

Scientific consensus is on my side
As it was with Trofim Lysenko, Hwang Woo-suk... who surely meant no harm, even to millions of starved Soviets, or to California taxpayers like myself forking out billions for over-hyped government stem-cell research.

"a true Christian is a follower of Christ"
Hitler was a 'follower of Christ'... so, ya... it's exactly that vague... so the foul stands.... The term "True Christian' is useless, because no person is capable of defining what a "True Christian" is for anybody but themselves... You certainly don't have the authority.... It would be exceedingly arrogant and ignorant if you thought you did. Your so-called "True Christinas" have been responsible for some of the most horrific things in history... So there you are, shot down again.

"it's self-explanatory"
Anybody with even HALF a clue knows that NOTHING is 'self explanatory'

Since when?

I have looked it over...a couple of times actually...and while it's impressive, it's nothing more than citation of opinion. Exactly like the links I supplied.
Sorry...you just remind me of Neal Peart in conversation...but you never answered the Rand question.

Doc, you and I have to talk again. You and CH here are like me and a lifelong friend who is also a pertian/randster. The ironies in this thread are almost more then I can believe.

But then again, I am a man of faith.

ClintonHammond said:
Which is par-for-the-course when it comes to religious people...

So, if you are a sort of atheist, do you put faith and religion in the same arena? Personally I don't, and I imagine that much of peoples confusion derives from a blending of the two. I won't necessarily talk about my 'religion' ie the practices that result from my faith, but I will talk about my faith.

I have less disdain for 'faith' (a persons faith isn't important to anyone but themselves... and hearing about it is about as interesting as hearing someone else's dream or D&D session) than I do for 'religion' (One of the most disgusting things the human race has ever created), but it's all still "belief in ghosts"....

and until I see ANY good, supported evidence, I'll have no truck with it.

Actually, Hitler ascribed to evolution. He thought of Aryans as a purer (ie, more evoled) race and Jews as apes, or less evolved. My Bible says God has made all men of one blood.(Acts 17:26)
ClintonHammond said:

No...Actually the Bible plainly says what a true Christian is in very plain terms. Unfortunately, not many Christians (or those who bash Christianity) read theirs. 1John 2:6 "He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked."
ClintonHammond said:

Again with the name-calling, CH?
ClintonHammond said:

Already answered this one. No one adhering to the teachings or nature of Christ would have conducted the Crusades, the Inquisition, the "God Hates Fags" movement. That's like cloaking hostile invasions in the "preserving democracy" farce.

Only to those who won't take the time to ponder, but rather spout out what others have shoved down their throats as 'fact'.

I say that because I've read it...and continue to do so. Defense of one's beliefs requires knowledge of one's beliefs. And, again, blanket statements show an appalling bigotry. I ascribed to many "faiths"...including evolution...before I came to Christ.

That's sounding more and more like "I know you are, but what am I?"

"before I came to Christ"
A lot of otherwise seeming intelligent and successful people followed Jim Jones into the jungle...

"That's sounding more and more like..."
It's not that in the least.

Yes, but I came to Christ, not Jim Jones. That tragedy came about because people followed the dictates of a man who was, again, in complete contradiction to the Word he preached.

Ignorance is trying to defend the veracity of a logical fallacy
But I've already disproven that the definition of a "True Christian" isn't a logical fallacy. Scotsman can eat all the flavorless porridge they want...

"I've already disproven that the definition of a "True Christian" isn't a logical fallacy"

Not in the least.... Especially given that the term "True Christian" is given as one of the best examples OF said logical fallacy.... (I can only assume that's one more thing you refused to read) Any more than if I said, "I'm a 6'5", 250 pound porn king", would change the fact that I'm a 6', 170 pound folk-singer...

I think your best course of action would be to stop digging, cause you're not doing yourself any favours in the least... but you sure are making my points well
