Original Trilogy Special Edition DVD's May 12th

I've just seen a flyer in the Stardust dvd for the KOTCS and it also advertises the original movies as being released individually on dvd on May 12th as special editions. No info on what extras there are on them though.

EDIT: Sorry just seen mention of this in the dvd discussion further below.

edit by t.: No problem ...I just moved this over here...

Hmm..Some of those features sound pretty good..

Indiana Jones: An Appreciation
Indy's Women: The American Film Institute Tribute
Raiders: The Melting Face!

These three caught my eye...Infact the "Melting face" feature might be worth it for the price alone!(y)

"Indy's Women: The American Film Institute Tribute"
Seriously?

The covers look great.
Although "Indiana Jones - An appreciation" sounds pretty cool I guess therewon't be much behind that title. What I'd really like to see is a Blade Runner like Fans and Filmmakers thing. Maybe there will be something like that in a future DVD release but I don't think this is it.

I do like the cover art.

While the features are new...keep in mind they could be pretty short. The introductions could also be short.

Not sure if its worth a rebuy. I think I am still gonna wait for the hi-def set with all 4 movies in a few yrs. I already have the trilogy on dvd from the previous release.

Well, having checked out the specs and content for the forthcoming DVD re-releases, I'm a little disappointed. :( This could have been a great opportunity to include the original vintage "making of" docs on the DVDs, and maybe even a look at some of the deleted scenes from the three movies, too. But, it ain't gonna happen... again.

Oh well... maybe when they release the 4 movie boxset?:hat:

I would love to see that too. Us Indyfans get no love. (n) Thank God for that Indyfans movie coming out.

Man, the new cover art looks REALLY good. It almost makes me want to go buy them even if they don't offer much new. If they were Blu-Ray, I'd already have that decision made.

But... I'm not sure if those special features are enough. I want deleted scenes! They're holding out on us!

Here's what I think of "Indiana Jones and the Lucas Double-Dip" DVD release.

New covers are awesome, but the new extras are very weak. For me to repurchase the films, I would've needed them on Blu-Ray.

This is hilarious...the typical PR man trying to justify a re-purchase.

“An entire generation of movie lovers will get to see these classic films in a digital format that makes them even more amazing than when they were first in theaters,” said Howard Roffman, Vice President of Lucasfilm Ltd. “These new, individual DVDs are a fantastic way to introduce young audiences to the unforgettable, action-packed adventures of the most daring archaeologist in the world.”

As Sean Connery would say...
"Once the Blu-Ray discs are ready, with standard DVDs behind us, then...I will share that sentiment." :gun:

Actually, I can see this coming...

1. Crystal Skull eventually comes out on Blu-Ray by itself
2. The Complete Adventures of Indiana Jones on Blu-Ray comes out 6 months later with all
four films in Blu and better extras, forcing people to repurchase Skull a second time, as
the films will not be available individually!

Man, I wonder if Lucasfilm has any marketing department openings.

This sounds like it could be the ?American Film Institute Salute to Steven Spielberg?
in 1995. I have parts of it and it is pretty neat to hear Karen Allen talking about
when she met Spielberg, the first question he asked was, ?How well can you spit??.

I agree with, metalinvader, the melting face bit sounds great! The storyboard
sequences are also something I?m looking forward to. Love that ?Raiders? cover!

I will definitely be getting these dvd's I just wish they were being released in a boxed set :). I really like the cover art for Raiders and Temple, but Crusade is a bit lacking. The special features all sound worth it, but I still wish there was audio commentary :) I guess introductions are the closes we are going to get with Spielberg and Lucas.

I think the Last Crusade cover is a photoshop job, as they take Sean Connery's face from the movie poster and combine it with a different Indiana Jones pose from a totally separate poster. I don't know why they love that image so much.

The Raiders and Doom covers both just pull from the original artwork.

I LIKE the LC cover. ... and I really don't think these are wroth a re-purchase. All they have to do is put them on Blu-Ray and viola, they'd make a crap load more money with it being on blue-ray with a few new features.

Then they could go nuts and re-release it again on blu-ray and dvd in a super deluxe uber mega ultra freak'n sweet deluxe edition with all those special features held back and a commentary by... people... other than Spielberg.

Does this sound like the new DVD set has 50% more content than the DVD set from a few years ago???

Or is the documentary from the old 4th Bonus disc split up into the 3 "Special Edition" new discs? With the extra Best Buy bonus disc from the set too?
