Spelunky?!?

Hi there,

Yesterday I stumbled across this beauty:

Spelunky v0.99.8

At first I thought this to be an update of 'Spelunker' of Commodore 64 fame.

But then I played the first (randomly generated, like in '...Desktop Adventures') level in which I had to dodge darts flying out of a statue's mouth, later a golden idol was to be found and as soon as I grabbed it the earth started shaking and a big boulder appeared.

*all smiles now*

Hi there,

So nobody even gave it a try? It's no trick, no shameless plug, just what I found.

I already played a couple of rounds in the garden with our daughter watching. She likes the beasts (small+large bats, a three-eyed freak?, and more) as well as the golden idol of course...

Very cute, but my skill in platformers is somewhat limited.

Yeah, isn't it?

It's like "Indy & His Desktop Adventures" in that you get a quick, randomly generated adventure for a couple of minutes; only I like Spelunky much, much better.

Granted, you have to be into retro gaming and platformers to enjoy this, but still...
