Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Harry Knowles' scathing review of Clone Wars has been mysteriously removed from AICN site. Is the Lucasfilm Gestapo behind this? Mesa think so.

The article itself is worth reading:

I'm heading out to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars later on today, and while a part of me is excited to be revisiting some of my all time favorite characters, the rest is sort of "eh" about the whole thing. And I'm not sure why, either. It's funny, too, because Campea over at The Movie Blog wrote up a similar piece recently where, prior to attending this film's premiere, he was trying to figure out why he wasn't excited about going to see a brand spanking new Star Wars movie. For him, it seems dude wasn't keen on watching another between-episode story.

Me? Not sure. I really enjoyed the last Clone Wars series, and ever since the original flicks I've always wanted to see this time in the Star Wars mythology played out a bit more. Honestly, I think I'm just spent on summer movies. I mean, is it just me or does it feel like Iron Man came out seven years ago already? I'm hyped out. I'd rather spend the last days of summer watching simple comedies or dramas (especially before a heavy awards season) than with a beloved franchise like Star Wars. So yeah, for me maybe it's the release date. A movie like this in late February, early March or early April and my excitement level is higher. End of August and, well, I'm just burnt. Still, though, I really do hope it rocks.

I think he meant burnt-out on huge super-hyped mega-productions.
I agree that this should have been released later in the year, like late Sept.

I don't expect this to be great, and it's definitely geared towards kids (since the trailers we prior to Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda). I'm still taking my son, who's almost 4, because I know he'll like it and I'll probably like most of it. I won't be considering this Episode 2.5 though, which I think some think it is.

Cut Lucas some slack. He makes a SW film & TV show for kids and you grill him for making a kids show. What's next? The live action show will be too adult? This is not unprecedented. He did do "Droids" and the "Ewok Adventure" films, they were bad but kids liked them at the time.

I understand people love SW, I do too, but it's not the end all be all and it can't be everything you want it to be. They're just movies.

For me, I play the video games and can re-watch the OT on DVD anytime. I hate the EU books and lame stories so I just don't read them. Why does everyone get so upset? If you don't like it, then don't watch. Then you can't complain about it or say Lucas took your money!

Cut Lucas some slack for making Kiddie Porn?!?!?! He's been peddling that self-indulgent juvenile sleaze since 1983.
Then don't go! That way you can stop acting like a child yourself! (y)

This was from AICN:

Regarding The CLONE WARS Reviews...

Hey, everyone. ?Moriarty? here.

I?m not going to spend a lot of time on this because, frankly, it?s being blown up into something it is not. However, I do believe that there should be a clear explanation here so that you guys know what is going on.

When I went to see THE CLONE WARS in Los Angeles, I was told there was an embargo on reviews until the day of release.

Yes. I am aware there are reviews all over the place. Welcome to the world of playing by the rules. EMPIRE, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, and whoever else has reviews up... they know what they were told by the distributor, and I don?t. What I do know is that I was specifically told there is an embargo until the day of release by Warner Bros.

I am routinely embargoed on films. In this case, I liked THE CLONE WARS, so it?s not because it?s a negative review. Harry posted his review last night, and then was contacted and told about the embargo by Warner Bros. They called me today to re-emphasize... this is a Warner Bros. policy. As I understand it, Lucasfilm did not directly contact the site. Again... I was not the one who pulled Harry?s story. Only he can do that.

With the Massawyrm story, I have to assume it was Merrick who posted it this morning. I?m not sure why it was posted after the night we had last night, but the embargo certainly applies to him as well, and so it had to come back down. Merrick is the one who traditionally posts all Massawyrm material, and unless and until Merrick explains his decision, I?m going to have to assume it was just poor communication behind the scenes.

Good explanation? Not really. Does this whole thing stink? Yep. Sorta does. They?re having public screenings of the film, like yesterday?s show at the Egyptian, and if I?d gone to one of those, no one would be able to embargo anything. But what this is NOT is a conspiracy, gang. If you?re one of those reactionary talkbackers screaming about the situation, allow me to extend a personal invitation to you to calm the **** down.

Embargoes are a reality that any of us who do this professionally have to deal with, and the truth is that they are selectively enforced. Sometimes we?re on the winning end of the proposition, sometimes we?re not. This time, we?re going to have to play it out with the reviews posting on opening day, and not until.

As I stated in an earlier talkback, if you repost Harry?s review in the talkbacks, you will be banned. No warning. No appeal. The review is off the site until Friday. That?s an editorial decision, and frankly, Lucas?s little cartoon movie isn?t worth all this sound and fury.

I won't be seeing Lucas' kiddie porn pedophillia, I'm already planning to see the Dark Knight on Imax again.
Hey AS, do us all a favor & don't throw around terms like pedophilia and kiddie porn, Ok? It's in disgusting taste and is inappropriate for the subject being discussed. Thank you.

It's an appropriately accurate description. Lucas is the Michael Jackson of kiddie porn.
