Sleeve "Ride up" question

Hello all! For my fist post here I would like to ask a question about Westeds new horsehide jacket.
I want to place an order for my second jacket but am not too sure how long to make my sleeves. Does anyone know how much the sleeves will "ride up" or "shrink" after it has been broken in? My goat lost about 1/2 an inch after a good break in period and I wonder how the horse compares. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance!
Blue Skies,
Soulman

blur is your man. He just got his new Wested Horsehide. I think that you should measure to the first knuckle of your thumb.

Welcome, btw.

Howdy, Soulman.

Welcome to the Raven, where posts are long and tempers are short.

I'm glad you're here. However, to be honest, the best place for Indy gear questions really is over at a nightclub down the street: Club Obi-Wan. If a Indy gear issue can be known, speculated upon, or guessed at, the "gearheads" over there can help! Though these gearheads do make their way to the Raven now and again...

EDIT: Sorry VP, I forget what acronyms like "COW" mean sometimes.

It's Club Obi-Wan and it's many, many miles to east.

Yeah, COW is a good place. The members are nice, but the admins are a bit stupid. They even suspended me because of "antagonistic behaviour". I hope that I'll return soon.

There are many members here at the Raven who can help. I would hate to turn away a new member over a simple question.

Blur is indeed a good first bet. Rick5150, Moloram, schwammy and others can help too. Also quantumGirl, Raffey, will be of service. Try our search feature for wested and measurements and go from there.

If there is anything else, let us know. Best of luck to you.

I would be glad to help but I own every type of Wested except for the horsehide (but not for long). I would rather not comment on something I am unsure about.

I will say that the horsehide jackets I do have are not as succeptible to ride up as the lamb, for which it most noticable. In fact all of my lambskin jackets have experienced a good degree of shrinkage as well. More to come if interested...

I've seen/owned a few different types of Wested. It think the arm 'ride-up' is just a minor design flaw because of the fit of the jacket. (It is supposed to be a 'tight' Eighties style/fit)

You can asked for a bit more extra length on the sleeve or better yet (especially if you work out) ask for the arm sleeves to be made with more room.

One of the problems I had with the two that I owned was that the bicep area of my jackets were a little tight. I could only wear the jackets with a light longsleeve shirt or a tee which made the jackets nonwearable during the cold winter days.
