I thought it was a great ending and a perfect way to end the series, even though I would love to see another film. I can understand why some were bothered by it and it seems to signal an end to Indy's adventuring days. I thought a fifth film would have interesting, especially if Indy is pulled into another adventure and trying to balance that part of his life with new domestic responsibilities.
If this is indeed the last film then it's the ending that makes the most sense, at least to me.
