Something I can't help but notice in the film as of late, is how Goebler calls him a major.
In the scene just before Indy sneaks up to the flying wing, Dietrich offers Belloq a drink on their ''succes in the desert and on the Ark''. To which Belloq then replies ''When we are very far from here''. Next up, a car pulls up and Goebler walks toward Dietrich saying ''Flugzeug ist bereit, herr majoor. Es kann beladen werden.''
(''The plane is prepared, sir major. It can be loaded'').
I wonder why Goebler calls him a major. Shouldn't he have said Oberst, for I thought that was the German equivalent to colonel.
Perhaps it was just a mistake since the actor who played Goebler isn't a real German.
