Your Figures In Action! (with PICS!)

Cool find, Dr. Gonzo! How is your action figure film coming along? I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

I initially was not going to purchase the Prince of Persia gate playset, but after Lance posted pics of his over in the "Compatible" thread (combined with the reduced price at Toys R Us), I decided to pick it up. I'm glad I did. I'm not sure that it's worth the original price tag of $20, and McFarlene's quality control remains poor (the tab that keeps the catapult down was broken and nowhere to be found, and Dastan's ass was broken!), but it makes a great diorama. Here are a couple of pics:

I also set it up with another McFarlene set, the old McFarlene's Monsters Mummy playset:

^VERY cool. Love that gate. Excellent set-up with both playsets!

(how much is it selling for at TRU these days? If it's cheap enough, I may get a second!)

I got earlier this week for around $15, after tax. Considering you're also getting the figure with it (which are retailing at Toys R Us for about $5), you're technically only paying $10 for the gate itself. Unfortunately, I have doubts that they will drop much beyond that, due to Toys R Us's relunctance to put things on deep discount (they still have Terminator Salvation and Star Trek figures for over $5 each).

None of this line has even shown up yet in our regular stores, let alone reduced.

Play.com and Forbiddenplanet.co.uk have it for £24.99 and £25.49 delivered.

My interests got diverted into 1/6 figures, but the gate looks so good and unique within the 1/18 world, that it begs to be bought.

Target is usually more generous in their markdowns, so if it drops to $10 there, I'll grab one.

There's a good chance they could also wind up at Big Lots at that price, as well.

I should probably address this now. I didn't write anything in the actual thread for my toy film because I figured it was long since forgotten and I didn't want to place that thread at the top of the "Indy fan work and activities" forum for no real reason.

I do plan on finishing that film eventually, I still have the toy studio and sets waiting in the garage. I have been extremely busy with work, something that I'm actually really hoping makes it to the "big" big time is almost finished. My fellow screenwriting partner on this project has an agent friend who is convinced that it's a good script and she is going to shop it to the big wigs at universal, sony and a few others. Until this draft is completely polished it is top priority.

Having said that I hope to get back to finishing the toy film as soon as I can as well as another project I was doing for fun with Junior Jones. I am happily surprised to hear there is still interest in my little fun movie.

Ford and Weaver going over the script for Working Girl 2.

Heh. Very nice!

I couldn't find that Sigourney figure anywhere when Avatar product was on the shelves. Then again, I didn't even know the Giovanni Ribisi figure even existed until it was discussed over at RS.

I guess they didn't make the boring "civilian" characters in great quantities.

After driving around for 2 weeks to every Toys R Us trying to find the last wave of Star Wars figs, I made this:

You know, I read this backwards, scrolling up from the bottom and I assumed it was just one panel of Henry being so distracted by Shaak Ti's, um, outfit that he didn't even notice the Grail.

Heh. Nice work either way. Those figures really ARE the holy grail of SW figures.

Dr. Gonzio, i love Star Wars and yours videos are very cool, is that long hard work?

That Star Wars one isn't mine. That's from Probot productions they really have the market cornered on Action Figure Films. I believe they were the guys behind Raider's of the toy box. Their stuff is gold.

It is hard but fun. I've been doing this on and off (sometimes very off) for about a year now.

Now that I have transferred all my files to another computer I have a feeling that my Indiana Jones action figure film will be seeing the light of day quite soon, if things continue like they are.

Expect part one of Indiana Jones and the Rise of the Dead before August gets out.
