Quint does bring up a good point that TOD forms the Indy of Raiders, who is less amoral and selfish. The inconsistency with his skepticism to the supernatural is still a little odd, but otherwise, it works well as an 'origin' story for Raiders Indy. I can see the TOD Indy seducing and then dumping Marion.

Some interesting articles. Another one re: John Williams' score: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/67403

I don't know if it's because it was the first one I saw in a theater, or if it's the score, or the none-stop action, but ToD has always had a special place in my heart.

There's also this article regarding Concept art: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/67422. To this day, I think the set of the ToD alter is the most amazing set I've seen. I just love seeing behind the scenes footage of it. In my opinion it doesn't get enough attention as to the amazing 'building' that it was.

Came across these articles and then rushed over to the Raven to make sure they were posted here. Whew.

Great reading. Didn't even realize today was ToD's anniversary until late in the day.

Congratulations, "Temple of Doom", you misunderstood and unjustly maligned masterpiece!!!

Fortune and Glory indeed!!!

And ends here and here, each with a list of the articles, the second including a response from Spielberg:
I won't reprint the note, but it was very kind, apologizing for not being able to take part personally because of previous commitments, but also congratulating the resourcefulness of digging up his own words from 1984. The thrust of the note was to clarify his personal feelings on the movie and that he might poke fun at it from time to time, but it still felt like he was proud of it. He called himself a journeyman director on this one, like his idols of the '30s and '40s, and that he wanted to execute his friend's vision and the end result is the film I love so much. “Temple of Doom showed off my craft just not my passion.”

Whatever the case may be for his personal feelings on the movie, I hope Mr. Spielberg at least has seen a glimpse at the real impact the film has had to many, many people. The Doom fans have come out of the woodward since I started posting these articles. We may be a small group, but damn it we're passionate about our ToD love!
