Cutting Straps on Jacket

Anyone ever cut the straps on their jackets because they were too long?

I have one jacket that has longish straps (US Wings).

Should I leave them alone, cut to shorten or have them altered?

I think if it were me, and I felt the straps were to long, it would bug me. I couldn`t just leave them, I`d have to have them altered professionally.

On this jacket, US Wings did not have a tall in my size and the recommendation was to go up a size. Had to adjust the straps to compensate for the extra waist material. Straps are pretty long after the adjustment. I will just take it to the alterations shop in Spring. Too light to wear this time of year.

I thought about doing that with my Todd's. I might ask the leather repair place that's working on mine to see if they do that kind of work.

No update yet. It should be done by now, but working from home today. Will check this early next week and report. :)
