Thank you. :hat: It's a cemetary warrior head. I think your figure looks very nice, t makes a wonderful ROTLA Indy, however I would paint the bag strap brown and his web belt maroon for co,pletly screen accuarate but besides that it looks awesome!. (y)

Thanks. What do you think of the headsculpt? Indy's eyes are slightly asymmetrical, but I think it's barely noticeable.

I think the pitfall head is the best ROTLA/younger Indy you can get (I have yet to see the LC sculpt in person) The eye is alittle off but I wouldn't worry t doesn't look bad. :hat:

I finally scored a Henry, Sr. figure and was pleased to see that it is possible to swap a hatless Indy head onto the body for a Professor Indy custom. The only problem is that Bazooka Indy's skin is considerably more rosy that his Pop's. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remedy this? If it works well, I'd like to pick up a second of each (provided I ever see another Henry again to make a permanant version.

Also, has anyone snapped an Admiral Ozzel head onto a Vogel body for the Fhurer? It sits low on the neck, but Hitler was a bit shorter anyhow, I believe. I suppose you could paint the hat and mustache to make it look a bit more accurate, but I figured that this was as good as we're likely to get.

I agree, the pitfall head is the best! I bought two pitfall sets just to use for customs. This one is my favorite though:

Some amazing customs here guys (Inky Skin's Club Obi-Wan Indy is one of my faves), I'm really in awe of your talents. :hat: I've not tackled any customs myself, aside from the occasional head swap, but I wanted to start with something simple..... I've got two Crystal Skull Indys, and wanted to paint the hair on one for more of a Raiders look.

Can anyone recommend a good paint to use? Preferably one that isn't too shiny, doesn't stay tacky, and isn't just going to rub or flake off when I put his hat on. Basically, are there any hobby paints on the market that are of a similar quality to what Hasbro uses?

Thanks for any advice.(y)

I've always used Delta Cream Coat acrylic paints, but those don't come close to hasbro but they are the best I have used. (y)

wow amazing pitfall head.

It's like mine from the skull indy, the frown and eyes and eyebrushes are perfect on place and it makes really a difference.

maybe its cheaper to buy one figure at the cheapest store near you...

shipping and handling can get expensive.

Strange question that i would like some opinions on: should i use an Iron Man movie Iron Monger figure w/open cockpit as an Indy custom for some Nazi war machine or a Soviet War Machine? I mean, the guy inside is 3 3/4 scale and looks a lot more like Lenin than Jeff Bridges...then on the other hand, how cool would it be to make him a mecha-Nazi a-la Wolfenstein 3d (especially since ive got custom Hitler head ready to go on a Col. Vogel bod)?

I've tried Humbrol Enamels but they don't seem to dry well on figures. Water based acrylics cover ok, dry just fine, but rub off easily. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them. Perhaps this is a suitable topic for the Hasbro Q&A - they must surely know the best paints to use on their own figures ?

I actually do have one if you need it. I swapped the older version for a new headsculpt on the jacketless body.

Acrylics are just fine. What I do is mix a little bit of gloss acrylic varnish thinned with water into the paint, and it works fine. For large areas, I use matte spray, the kind they sell at Games Workshops stores.

Thanks Errex - never thought to use varnish in the mix as a fixative ! Fortunately my next custom figure requires no paint apps at all ;)

Thanks for the paint advice guys.(y) I'm surprised there's nothing readily available that's up to general action figure standards. I might have to try the acrylics/varnish mix, or maybe pop into a Games Workshop and see if they can recommend anything.

Oh, there is a TON of info regarding acrylics and their uses in miniature modeling forums.

One of my favorites is: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/

Just go to the Painting Tips and Advice section and right at the top is a sticky with FAQs.

For those in the US, a viable alternative to gloss acrylic varnish is to use Future Floor Polish into the mix. I use glossy varnish because the acrylics are already very matte, so adding gloss allows me to try and match the overall brilliance of factory painted plastic.
