Indy Board Games

I've recently taken up an appreciation of Indiana Jones board games, and have bought both versions of the Raiders of the Lost Ark game on eBay (Kenner and Parker Bros). I am in the process of buying the ToD game as well. Over the years, I've seen many Indy fans on this site and others create absolutely stunning artwork and collectibles, and was wondering whether anyone has considered or has successfully created an Indiana Jones-themed board game? If so, I'd love some pics and a description of the gameplay. Also, if anyone else owns the games mentioned above, what do you think of them (especially ToD)?

Cheers.

Guess who got an Indy Board Game????

I did!!!!! On my birthday party on Saturday, my best friend actually surprised me with a geniune "Indiana Jones from the Raiders of the Lost Ark" board game from 1982!!!:whip: All the pieces are intact and I played it all day yesterday with my brother. It's a great game. I'll post some pics and the instructions to the game so you can get a look at the condition it's in and what the game is all about. There is information posted at the Indiana Jones offical site. I'll have to look at the Raider.net to see if there is anything about it. But if there isn't, Gilles: I'm happy to provide photos and more information about the game itself.

Board games in the UK/Europe

So what are the chance's that we will be seeing the Monopoly and Life versions of Indiana Jones in the UK or Europe?

Was thinking of importing off eBay today, as you can get £5 off purchases of £10 or more, but if they are going to to be available here in a few weeks/months then I can wait and possibly save money also.

Guess who got another Indy board game? :p

I now possess the Indiana Jones DVD Adventure Game" board game, which apparently was released in the US and Canada in 2008, during the release of KOTCS. It was found at a specialist toy store. Which was kind of a problem at first, as the game makers put a damn region lock on the DVD (America & Canada have a different DVD region to Australia), but fortunately my computer can play American DVDs.

What's interesting about this particular game (other than the fact that it's actually enjoyable and that it is very reminescent of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride!) is that it's based on the original three films and has no reference to KOTCS what-so-ever.

Anyone else got this game? I had never heard of it before till yesterday when I got it as a pleasant surprise.

This thread needed pictures, Violet! This website is useful for finding out what's under the lid of loads of boardgames:

I'm not sure if I've seen the DVD Adventure Game.

I know I've seen lots of what I thought were Indy DVD Triva games around in clearance stores. Now I'm thinking I didn't look close enough at the box.

Yeah, I posted pics of the Raiders board game in another thread. I couldn't find where; I think it might have been in one of those new acquistions threads.

Anyway, yep, that's the DVD game I'm talking about. It's not trivia at all!

It's even got the Forbidden Eye logo in the DVD menu during gameplay.

It's got DVD game challenges like getting to the ark without stepping on snakes, roll the die to fight and beat baddies, and yeah, it's even got mini game pieces of the artefacts.

The DVD is narrated by Sallah, though it ain't John Rhys-Davies (sadly, it's a bad impersonator, but still it's the thought that counts). The game is kind of done in the style of 90s games like "Nightmare".

Basically, this game is far better than that stairs game. Much more Indy-like, and the challenges and traps, are similar to the ones in the Raiders game. If they had put more time and money in this one, then it would be so worthwhile for every fan. It's still cool for me, and was totally worth the money and more (got it for 10 bucks!).

The original 1982 game reminds me a lot of the vintage 'Escape from the Death Star' boardgame, right down to the card spinner.

The DVD game looks like it might be the one I have seen around on clearance. I bought the 'Stairs' game from one of those shops, just to use the staircase as scenery for the Hasbro figures.

I got the game and resisted playing it, but it's really pretty well done. The DVD stuff has a tendency in other game to get repetitive, (which is still has potential) but hasn't yet. The game "board" is built along the way so it make each game a little different and like you're exploring. Then there's the race out.

Really a fine game.

Wish the box was a crate like the Monopoly game though!

Totally agree. I love how the game board changes every time you play and the random actions such as the boulders and fighting other players. Also I love that little touch in the main game menu where Indy's shadow pops up and you can hear footsteps and then he walks off.

What I found interesting was that you would have to have seen the movies at least once each to do the challenges: my brother had to ask me how to spell Jehovah ("IEHOVA") in the old way (and he's seen the films!) for the Grail challenge. Just little things like that, certainly tell you this was made for fans (again, it's just too bad about that Sallah voice over! That's probably the biggest flaw of the game, but otherwise the game is pretty damn good!).

I have that Raiders board game as well, it's one of my favorite things to display because I absolutely love the art work.

Mine is a little tattered about c-7 condition I've always planned on getting one in good condition. It's far better artwork then the TOD game :)

The Indy shadow/footsteps is a nice touch, I don't remember Sallah's voice being too offensive, but then again I don't recall it like John Rhys Davies so I'm inclined to agree. Have to check it out again.

I think the replay value with the same people has a sudden sharp decline...more DVD puzzles would have been welcomed.

Threads merged. Now we have one thread for Indy board games.

Life Indy version looks pretty cool. They didn't really sell that one down here.

Now someone has to post detailed pics of the Indy Monopoly game...

If I find the time, I'll try to take detailed pics. But if any of you already has detailed pics, please do post 'em.
