A Twinkle in An Eye

The saying "Before you where a twinkle in your fathers/mothers eye..." has always raised some strange questions. When I was little the questions where like why was the eye twinkling? When someone is having a baby do their eyes twinkle? Do babies grow in your eyes? When you are ready to have a baby do your eyes twinkle to let your partner know?

I suppose that it could be used to mean "before your mother/father was born" but I have heard it used to explain something that happened when my mom/dad was a kid. My question now is does "twinkle in your father/mother's eye" imply "before your parents got horny and screwed each other, thereby conceiving you..."?

If anyone can tell me the origins of this saying and/or what they think what it means please tell me.

twin·kle

(of the eyes) to be bright with amusement, pleasure, etc.

says the dictionary.

So, word pleasure indicates that in this case, the saying describes the look in a person's eyes while engaged in a sexual intercourse. And now, unless you've been asleep in biology classes, I assume you can do the math from here. No idea of the origins of this saying, but I reckon it dates back to the times before you were... well, you know.

I prefer "before you were a funny feeling in your father's loins", by the way. So much more descriptive.

Or perhaps it indicates that the partner (with said twinkle in their eye) is infact an alien clone sent to Earth to infiltrait and destroy the human race using a variety of deadly and prolonged weapons who has desguised himself as a native to conduct intercoarse, or "hot monkey love", with a "groovy hippie chick"... Thats just a possibilty.

Hot Monkey Love????? Well, ...I want to know more about that!!! .

As for "twinkle in your father's eye".........you can bet your mama had a "twinkle" in her eye too.

The other mammals have pheromones..........we humans have "twinkles". Same thing, only different.

According to the Oxford-English dictionary...

TWINKLE: 1. a. A winking of the eye; a wink, blink; also, a momentary glance (in quot. 1593, of the mind);

So it looks like it might refer to a wink or a glance... probably meaning the beginning of flirtations between the would-be parents?

Based on that definition, that's what I think.

What it is implying is that his father's/mother's eyes met in a flirty way which led to certain activities that lead to his conception.
