A New iTouch Generation

The Nintendo revolution continues as the Nintendo DSi continues to take Japan by storm while anticipation continues to build here in the U.S.A. and if that weren't enough this past week GameStop has begun intense promotion for the new DSi. Nintendo has also published a website dedicated to the DSi @ http://www.nintendodsi.com.

Personally I'm very excited about the new DSi. It has great new features such as a digital camera which features TEN lenses, it has an application store (DSi Ware Shop), it utilizes SD Cards, features internal memory, bigger screens and it's matte surface is also finger print resistant and much, much more.

Hit the jump below for a special interview by Satoru Iwata with the developers of the Nintendo DSi.

I'm also interested in hearing the opinions of my fellow Ravener's regarding the DSi. Hopefully tomorrow I can go and reserve a black DSi.

I own two DS lites, a regular DS. I reserved a DSi from Gamestop. I collect games and consoles.

I still own two GBA SPs,a regular GBA, a Pocket, Colour and such.

I wonder if it's scratch proof.

It sounds like another Gizmondo or N-gage.

This is not just another gizmondo nor will it go the way of the Game-Boy Micro!

The Nintendo DSi is truly a revolution. As of today the news has been updated. I was wrong regarding the two DSi Cameras having ten lenses, in fact the DSi will have eleven lenses. Via the photography program on the DSi you'll be able to distort, morph and edit your photographs. Another nifty feature of the DSi in regards to the cameras is that they are not simply cameras like the cameras of the past. The DSi introduces Motion Sensing Cameras into the PDA market for the first time. The two cameras are able to accurately detect facial features and the players movements; this means that moving the upper body, hands, arms and head in front of the camera causes play to be directed by movement alone and therefore this brings a complete new way of interacting with the DS system. The DSi like the Wii is a true Nintendo Revolution. DSi users can also save their photographs to an SD Card and upload them to their Personal Computer or Wii and share them with friends via Wii Connect 24.

Here are some very good photographs of the DSi Packaging.

BTW the Nintendo DSi will offer wonderful mapping software which can be downloaded from the DSi Ware Shop. The mapping programs will not only be your traditional mapping experience; for example offerings include Train Maps for the transit systems in various cities. Map Software 2009 Edition will be available for 500 Nintendo Points in Japan.

Nice integration of topic and thread title, there.

Thank you very much Attila the Professor. It's not often that one receives a complement from a forum moderator and so I'll treasure this moment for a long time to come. On the other hand I pray that I will be blessed with the chance to "reserve" a DSi. I was unable to make it to Game Stop today. BTW my fellow Raveners if you check out the Nintendo Channel on your Wii today you'll notice that there is a special "info" video for the Nintendo DSi that has been added.

Here is a heads up on release dates:

Australian Nintendo DSi Release Schedule: April 2nd 2009

European Union Nintendo DSi Release Schedule: April 3rd 2009

North American Release Schedule: April 5th 2009

It seems as if the European Union and Australia both shall receive the Matte White and Matte Black colors while the North American region shall receive the Matte Black and Matte Blue DSi systems.

Only black and white???

But I want the blue!!!!

Seriously.... I really enjoy my bro's DS lite and I don't know if I care enough about DSi. The camera side of it, seems interesting though I can't help but think about the GameBoy Camera and Printer from the 90's and how big a deal that was when I was a kid. To be sure, this will be better than that, but I still can't help but think that.

And to me, the Wii isn't a revolution in gaming at all. It just improved on the PS2 Eyetoy. EyeToy was more of the major revolution. The improvements on that idea are fantastic, but too many more parts to buy in some games' cases.

You can probily import a blue DSi.

I own a Wii, but it hardly gets played. The only thing I play onmy Wii is Megaman 9, Some of my VC games and Zack and Wiki. That's about it.

I remember the Gameboy camera and how some GB games supported the feature. Zelda DX and Mario DX came tomind.

I already have a DSlite and a digital camera. I like them because they work.

This seems like such a pointless feature. I guess it's handy for those people who carry around their DS's 24/7.

LOL even if you don't carry your DS around 24/7 it will still be nice to have a camera in your DS(y) can't we all live in Harmony???

I had to buy a new DS lite last month, due to my old DS lite was knocked off and the stylus screen was distored.

I already have a camera in my phone.
