Telltale Games have done a close to outstanding job with Tales of Monkey Island. I'm stuck on chapter four at the moment, but only because my PC is starting to freeze up, in general. I say close to outstanding because frankly the navigating is a pain. moving the character with the mouse is very counter-intuitive so I switch my right hand between the mouse and keyboard, depending on what's going on. The inventory system could be better as well, but I think the console versions pretty much solve both problems. The humor in the games is great, Monkey Island is back on track after the very poor Escape from Monkey Island. They would do a great job with Indy, I am sure of that.

The game is really meant to be played with both the keyboard (movement) and mouse (interaction) on the PC. The alternate mouse-only controls feel like they were implemented specifically for the purists who whined that they would never play an adventure game with keyboard controls.

Anyway, I agree, Telltale has done a great job with Monkey Island and they'd probably make an amazing Indiana Jones game. A year ago I would have told you that the possibility of another graphic adventure Indiana Jones game was nonexistent, but honestly between the fact that the action/adventure Indy games (which you'd think would be a perfect fit for the character) have thus far been more mediocre than great, Telltale Games have managed to get LucasArts to allow them to work on one of their licenses, and the fact that Telltale is most recently working on high profile film franchises, the formerly impossible notion of them getting the opportunity to work on Indy someday is suddenly something I'm not sure I can 100% rule out anymore.

Don't know if this is an update but the PC Gamer article is "new."

Indie Indiana Jones adventure game releases demo

Didn't find anything searching on "Seven Cities Gold", so here's this too:

Indiana Jones and the 7 Cities of Gold

Quote:
The year is 1940. The world is in turmoil as the Second World War engulfs it. Hitler's Nazi forces are rapidly marching across Europe, and the forces of Imperial Japan are sweeping across the Pacific. Returning from yet another adventure, our hero Indiana Jones receives a telegram from his colleague Marcus Brody asking him to meet him in the deserts of Arizona. Traveling to Arizona, Indiana meets up with Marcus and an amazing discovery catapults the man with the Hat into a new adventure - this time in search of the legendary Seven Cities of Gold. As Indy once again travels across the globe, he teams up with George and Elizabeth Stenson to aid in the search for the Cities. But the Third Reich wants to find the Cities as well, and has dispatched agents to find it. According to the legend of the Seven Cities of Gold, the Cities are said to contain incredible wealth and amazing ancient secrets which in the hands of the Nazis would aid them in their conquest of the globe. With the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, Indy and his friends become entangled in a deadly race to find the Cities first and keep the Nazis from unlocking the secrets of the Seven Cities of Gold.

Complete with sinister villains, rewarding puzzles, exotic locations and the secrets of a long-forgotten culture, Indiana Jones and the Seven Cities of Gold will be full of all the familiar Indy charm, as well as new additions by loyal fans of the series to make this game a fun and exciting endeavor into adventure gaming.

I believe that Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth will be out this year. They've just released a new updated demo and will shortly release a new mini-game, Passage of Saints.

I'm very excited.

Still though, what makes you think it will be out this year? I was under the impression that they still had a long way to go with it, and that they were hung up on the creation of art resources. I read that the updated demo was pretty much identical to the old demo of several years ago with just a few new additions. Lol...not to be a downer or anything.

Not to be a downer, but I'm still surprised LucasLegal hasn't shut all these down yet.

In my newest issue of Game Informer there is a section that looks back on 2010. In the article there is a subject called "Top Ten Disappointments" and here is number 9 that I found truthful.

The Curious Case of LucasArts

"LucasArts has two film franchises just screaming to be triple-A gaming blockbusters in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but the Force is no longer strong with this publisher. The studio suffered layoffs in September and the departure of veteran project lead Haden Blackman.
Later, it handed over Star Wars: The Old Republic to EA. Where's our Star Wars: Battlefront update? Why hasn't LucasArts delivered the Indiana Jones game we deserve? Most importantly what's going on over at LucasArts?"

^I gotta agree with Game Informer. I mean, haven't we been getting at least 1 new SW game every year since, like, at least 1990? I understand the publisher has had some financial trouble as of late, but how about we fix that by making good games. SW may seem more profitable than Indy, but I think if you focus and make a really intriguing beautiful Indy game, you'd be surprise on how many people would buy it. Indiana Jones is becoming an afterthought. A good afterthought, but an afterthought none the less.

Telltale games i supposed to announce 5 new games in February. One of these is RUMORED to be Walking Dead, but who knows... maybe Indy also. Of course it seems to me like they wouldn't lump an Indy announcement with 4 other games.

LucasArts finds replacement for creative director role

Quote:
LucasArts has appointed journeyman Frederic Markus to its vacant studio creative director position, reports IndustryGamers. Markus brings with him a long career of credits -- in more than 35 games -- from a variety of positions and publishers, including most recently director of game design at Disney Interactive. He's also served as director of pre-production at Ubisoft and consulted on game design and pre-production for Atari, Microsoft and Rockstar, among others.

Markus leaves Disney in the midst of its restructuring away from console development, and he joins LucasArts following a difficult end of 2010 for the studio. Clint Hocking's arrival at LucasArts last fall brought a new hope in the wake of Haden Blackman's resignation, but two rounds of layoffs closed out the year with an "Episode V" type of feel.

Prior to Markus' appointment, former BioShock senior designer Joe McDonagh held the creative director position at LucasArts. In December, McDonagh joined PopCap as the company's new director of production.

I hear ya...I don't know why they can't give us a grand Raiders video game. I don't care that I know the story already. If they would invest in one game they wouldn't have to shortchange us on content to fit the all the other films in one box. Realease expansion packs like Machette Landing or Escape the Jilted Student...

It could be beautiful.

Or do what they did for Monkey Island for Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (and Last Crusade, too, please)...

Thank you for the interest. Passage of Saints should be along shortly. But sadly no, FoY in full will not be ready this year, but lots more will have been done on it. And as for registrations, I'll re-open them in March. Take care folks!

Is FoY going to have a voice track?

I too hope the new person in charge of LucasArt does something with Indy. Maybe restart and finish the PS3/360 game?

Hi again. We will work on a talkie yes - but I'm pretty certain the first release will be text only, as people have been waiting so long. Doing our best at the moment to speed up the release.

I'm kind of new to this forum, but I want to say I love FOA, it's by far my favorite game ever. If they come out with a new FOA-style Indiana Jones adventure, I don't think it would come out nearly as amazing and captivating as FOA is, but I would still love to play it.

Telltale, please make an Indy game in the same way as BTTF and Sam and Max. Thanks.
