Which alien invasion seemed more action packed and suspenseful to you? I thought War of the Worlds beat Independence Day 100 to 1. One of Speilburg's best!

I'm sorry but I don't like the new War of the Worlds that much. I was very dissappointed.
The cast =
... and ID4 has a now-famous scene! :)

Independence Day for sure. I never saw the new War of the Worlds. It just didn't seem to interest me, although the original was quite good and I enjoyed the book as well.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews from friends about War of the Worlds. I was primarily interested in it because of Speilberg's direction. It's one of those unwatched movies that I'm hoping to see over the Christmas holidays, but I'm anticipating a "good" rather than "great" experience based on what others have told me.

I hated both. I'll take Ridley Scott's Alien
ID$ was weak. And WotW was easily the worst thing Spielberg has done since Jurassic Park 2.

Yet another deep, thought provoking topic. I had to go with War of the Worlds. Somehow I think if the world were invaded by aliens, it wouldn't be the ghetto that would save us all.

 the only one to save us would be indifan anyway.

the better alien invasion movie actually is "signs" but probably that's not the kind of movie you can entertain mr. "actionman" indifan with. not surprising - if my life was such an adventure as his, even james bond would look like a slowpoke to me.

It was an okay movie for me. I had high expectations for Spielberg, though.
...but the whole family (Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, and Justin Chatwin), Ugh. I just did not feel anything for them.

Everything bad I've heard about it has been blamed on that exact thing... Speilberg's lousy direction.... What was his last good movie? Catch Me If You Can?? And before that? The Colour Purple?

When it comes on my Digital Movie Network, and I'm home from a gig late one night, and I'm wired for sound and there's no good porn on, I'll watch his version of War Of The Worlds... But I expect it to chew....

I really did not like ID4 at all,so I'd go with War of the Worlds, but I liked the X-Files movie better than that one,so there's my write in vote. :D

I always liked the Simpsons Alien invasions!

Keeping on the Big Willy Style track here, there is always Men in Black

Between those two, I definitely say Independence Day. Not only did it have some of my favorite actors, but the plot was okay and it was fun to watch.

"You wanna know what really bugs me? People who think that Jethro Tull is the name of a guy in the band!"

LOL

"oh ya... and the guys don't want to pay taxes again... ever."

LOL

"You know, if this NASA thing doesn't work out for you, you could always get a job at Helga's House Of Pain"

LOL

I don't remember KISS in anything about an alien invasion, but they did star in Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, a television movie that was so awful it qualifies as high comedy. There's a great write up about it here.

If it's Jethro Tull your "Classic Rock" comment is directed towards, one can hardly call a band who released an album as recently as 2003 'classic'...

(Though I do mostly agree... 98% of the stuff played on so called "Classic Rock" radio and such is so old and tired I never want to hear it again....)

,-)

"American components, Russian components... all made in TAIWAN!"
LOL
