Indy & Marion Polaroid Commission

I had an idea to get a series of commissions done by an artist I know featuring some of my favourite, fictional characters posing for polaroid photos during their adventures. So, here's Indy and Marion in a happy snap just before swords are drawn and fists are flying. It's hard to appreciate just how nice the original artwork is without seeing it in person but this scan does a decent job. Enjoy

That is actually a beautiful drawing, and a wonderful idea for a commission.

I particularly like the Marion character and how her features translate so well into the abstraction that the artist uses as his/her style.

The background is also marvelously drawn - and the right shades of sepia hues evoke the look of aged or archivally-treated photos from the first half of the 20th century.

I am unsure about the Polaroid reference, though. Do you just mean that as a generic word for a snapshot? I ask because the white frames of Polaroids pictures - rollfilm, packfilm and integralfilm types - are quite distinct, and of course Edwin Land unveiled Polaroid only in 1947/8. So the reference strikes me as unsuitable on two accounts...

Yes, Archaeos, by Polaroid I do just mean a snapshot and thanks for the kind comments. In reality it actually does look like an old photo which is somewhat surreal as it is obviously a piece of art. I may well get another Indy piece done by Mister Hope as he'll literally produce whatever you ask and at a very reasonable price.

The reason it was referred to as a Polaroid is that the first commission I had done has more or less exactly that, which you can see below ...

Okay, thanks for the explanation. That second drawing indeed clearly looks and refers to a Polaroid integralfilm photo.

I must say I would get terribly tempted to have MisterHope.com translate and draw all sorts of Indy pictures into his style... just to see how they would look...

Indytim, why didn't you post this in your previous thread about Mister Hope?
Mister Hope's Indy Head Shots
Do you really need to start a new thread about EVERY, SINGLE PIECE of Indy artwork that you find?

Personally, I don't like the artwork that you commissioned and was very surprised to learn that it was possibly done by a male. The lack of black screams female artist (no offence to women intended, just an observation) Could Mister Hope really be a Miss Hope?

If you are satisfied with it, then all is good...but I wouldn't pay a wooden nickel for that!.

Well, I think it looks cool, it's a style that you don't see everybody else doing which gives it much more unique, one of a kind quality.
