Summer

School has been out for two weeks here in SF already; bright and early after the last day of school we flew down to Huntsville, Alabama so my older son could attend Space Camp. The rest of us drove 11 hours to Orlando to check out Walt Disney World - stayed at the Polynesian, and had a day each at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom. I'd been before (20 years ago!) but it was my wife's first time. (No Hollywood Studios visit to report on.) MK was disappointing - a cheap copy of "The Original DL", but the rest was fun.

Our summer continues to be exciting - my older son is spending June with his grandparents in Oregon so I'll have slightly more than zero free time to catch up on hobby projects. Need to take my motorcycle driving test (I just have a learner's permit at the moment) so I can really go crazy. Later in the summer I have a cousin who's getting married up in Calgary so we'll go up there for the annual family visit (that's where nearly all of my relatives reside) for a few weeks.

And, of course, the day job. :)

Leave your bedroom and go outside!:whip:

Yes no issues with booze on the beach. A nice bonfire and a few bottles is a nice night. I suspect we will all be at Nicks Cove enjoying a nice summers night soon. Surfing without a wetsuit means no sharks and no waves...

Posting from North Bay front, on Balboa Island...I'll have a glass for you...

Is it legal to drink alcohol on California beaches?

Not on San Diego or San Diego County beaches. They banned all booze on the beach in...um, 2008. Too many "bros".

Everybody who's cultured enough knows that it's in fact the cold that makes them most... perky.

Yeah... no.

Summer means: work is exceptionally busy; my aural preferences get warmer and more Southerly; I keep hacking out the framing on my sailboat, and imbibe far too many rum-based concoctions.

Le Sab, the Aqua Velvets are absolutely smooth but here's a nice summer tune from...

The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon (1966)

"Now I'm sittin' here...Sipping at my ice cold beer
Lazin' on a sunny afternoon...In the summertime..."

You sent me to my cd collection, Stoo! That doesn't happen often. It took me a while, but I finally found where I had initially heard that song!

And just because...

I enjoy planting and taking care of a large vegtable garden. As of now I have red and yellow onions, lettuce, mustard greens, tons of tomatoes, jalapeno and banana peppers, three different kinds of greenbeans (or stringbeans), summer squash, cucumbers, okra and carrots. Late in the season me and my wife pickle and can a lot of them.
We also grill out a lot, swim in the river and try to get some fishing in when we can.

That paints a very pleasant picture.

Although, Lou Reed's best and most sublime is his cover of 'This Magic Moment."

Further scientific evidence to debunk Finn's hypothesis.

2012.

2011 was a finer vintage.
