Worst movie ever!! Whats your opinion?

I don't think I'm as knowledgeable about classic films as you RA. I'll be honest, I haven't seen that many before the 1980s. I've seen many of the big name classics... Taxi Driver, anything by Kubrick, etc. But are there any gems out there that are a bit more rare worth checking out?

I was watching AVGN's best car chases, and there was this movie about this man who was a cop or something and he loses everything and the only way for his family to get money is if he dies so he does some crazy stuff to try and get killed.... I don't know what the name was (I'd have to go re-watch)... but it looked pretty good.

I only ask, because you seem like a well-rounded film educated individual. haha.

How about Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - a relic from 1964.
No, I'm serious. That movie was actually made. :D
It was featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

For recent flops, I'd say Catwoman, Gigli, Battlefield Earth, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, and that Pluto Nash movie with Eddie Murphy.

But, for me, the truly worst movie ever made is Batman and Robin, because it almost ended the Batman movie franchise.

YES.

Love that film. And yes, I'd rank it among the worst. Totally inept... totally hilarious. Good ****.
I know. I didn't believe it was actually real when I first saw it on Mystery Science Theater. The movie makes the Mummy 3 look like The Godfather. That just goes to show that the cinematical flop has been around a long time.

I mentioned this one a few pages back. My dad took my brother & I to see it in the theatre!
It was re-released in '77 shortly after "Star Wars" came out.

"Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" is on a few Top 10 All-Time-Worst-Movie lists along with
"The Terror of Tiny Town", the all-midget cowboy flick (which I've seen).

Aaaaah now we're talking. In my bog/lavatory/john (whichever you prefer!), I have copies of The 50 Worst Movie of All Time and The Golden Turkey Awards. The movies you mention feature very highly in both books.

I've heard of "coffee table books" but couldn't think of a more fitting place for those titles.
In (or near) the toilet!:p "The Terror of Tiny Town" is truly terrible.

I give you all those options, and you go for 'toilet' - you pedantic sod! (y)

It was for the benefit of the culturally disinclined. I was going to write "loo".;)

Other "worst" movies? Umm..."King Frat". Anyone ever see that?
The cheapest, unfunniest, teenage exploitation flick of the '80s.

"The Ice Pirates" was pretty awful, too.

I've been babysitting this summer, so I've had to watch some pretty crappy kids films. Nancy Drew was the most recent. So many problems with that movie.

There's nothing remotely awful about Caligula.

Don't confuse your prudish nature with the quality of a film, please.

Which is why I said, "...this one...may weigh on the scales of more controversial than worst movie ever,..but it's up there on some of the lists..."

In your eyes there might not be anything remotely awful with the quality of this film...but as a historian, I can say with confidence that it's not my prudish nature that makes me question the quality of Caligula.

A movie doesn't have to be historically accurate to be a good film. Look at Braveheart, or The Patriot, and (especially) Raiders of the Lost Ark and all other Indy films.

Oh sure I know that...I enjoy most historically inaccurate movies...in fact quite a few. I was just simply pointing out that Caligula usually makes "worst movie lists" for obvious reasons. Not that I really have a major problem with it...but Resident Alien feels I have a "prudish nature" that makes me judge films. I was just trying to clarify that prudish nature has nothing to do with the flaws I find with Caligula.

Well, a prude is someone who is overly concerned with propriety and is usually uncomfortable with sexuality, nudity, alcohol, and drug use.
And if your only problem with Caligula is that it portrays explicit sex ad nauseum, then you're probably a prude.
This isn't a criticism of you, or anyone else. I've never seen the film, but I've read reviews of it and heard people discuss it before, and from what I know, most of its criticism dealt with its, um, porn-like qualities. And a lot of people have referred to it as a misunderstood classic. So, then, if your problem with it isn't that its too vulgar to you, barring historical inaccuracy what is your problem with it?

I have watched so many movies, i can't just pick out some...
Let's see, i really hated Cutthroad Island, i didn't even watch the ending. I don't even remember what is was all about. Oh yeah, pirates, and Geena Davis.

- Dreamgirls (i already hated musicals, now i even hate them more)
- Pearl Harbour (OMG! what the h*ll was that all about? War? Love? or war?)
- Troy (it was ok till Hector died..)

But then there are a lot of movies which are bad, but which i really enjoy because they ARE bad. Like:

- the return of the Killer Tomatoes (soo stupid but soo funny)
- Bill & Ted's wathever journey (the one with ' Death' in it, that was hilarious)
- Duece Bigalow, Male Gigolo (that's a huge b*tch)
- California Man
- Spaceballs (I'm surrounded by *ssholes!)

cmon! Spaceballs is a Mel Brooks classic!
