Disney Release Schedule (US/CAN)

Compiled from boxofficemojo.com, @ercboxoffice on twitter, and yet-to-be-contradicted press releases.
As the title says, these are the (north) North American dates. Not all dates will be the same abroad and not all films will necessarily be distributed by Disney in overseas territories.

Latest Updates:

- "Magic Camp" has been unset.

- "Untitled Christopher Robin Project" starring Ewan McGregor, has taken over the August 2018 Live-Action Fairy Tale slot.

- "Star Wars Episode IX" has been delayed to December 20, 2019.
- The live-action "Aladdin" will now take the May 24, 2019 slot from Star Wars. (The following two shifts remove the Dec 2019 fairy tale placeholder.)

- The Kenneth Branagh-directed YA-fantasy adaptation "Artemis Fowl" has been set for August 9th, 2019.

- And lastly, the November 8th, 2019 live-action fairy tale slot has been given to "Nicole" starring Ann Kendrick as Santa's daughter.

I was holding off on a very small update to see if they announced anything more at their shareholder meeting today, but they didn't.

Latest Updates:
- The Touchstone-distributed Dreamworks drama "The Light Between Oceans" has been set for September 2nd.
- Removed recent release "The Finest Hours" as well as "Zootopia" which opens tonight.

Looking into it, it appears you are correct that Planet isn't a DisneyNature film. IMAX does credit it as a Disney co-production though, so I'll just label it a documentary in the next update.

Born in China is trickier. After much digging on my part, it appears DisneyNature has offered no official date as of yet. There's a rumored date for it in April, but I can't find proper sourcing for that (and based on the campaign for the last Nature film, there should have been a lot more promotion for it by now if that date were to be the case.)

I think for now, in the case of stuff that's been announced/acknowledged but doesn't have a minimum of an official/confirmed release year, I'll hold off including it until there's something more to go by.

If that sounds okay?

I'll predict the troubled Inhumans feature gets bumped into next decade, Avengers closes phase 3 with no mid or post credits scenes, and some nice deluxe Marvel movie sets arrive in time for Christmas 2019. Because how can we be nostalgic if they won't go away?

A quick search suggests two possibilities. One a Teen Space Race film which has apparently been pushed back, and the other a Mickey Mouse feature for the character's 90th "birthday." Neither of those seem like particularly hard information, but perhaps other sources reveal more.

They previously announced that a Frozen sequel is in the making, but hadn't specified a date. I think that's going to keep most people from speculating that the date belongs to anything else.

Yeah, I saw that announcement last week. When they say "Coming Soon", they should look up the meaning of "soon".

Mary Fu-kin- Poppins 2...you've got to be kidding me.

I'm a fan of the mouse, but even that's a bit of a overstep.

A relatively minor note, so I'm not changing my list for it just yet...

According to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, their "Avengers: Infinity War" films are due to be re-titled -- once they come up with the new ones.

Despite the two movies being filmed together, the directors say that the current titles are misleading because each film will be its own story, and NOT one story split into two movies.

(They don't say so, but I'll hazard a guess that one of the flicks will get to keep "Infinity War" as its subtitle.)

Consider this fair warning.

Walt Disney Animation is making an announcement on Facebook Live tomorrow morning.

Might be in relation to one of the to-be-announced projects on the schedule. (Or it could just be something relating to this year's fall release. Or a new short film. Whatever.)

Latest Updates:
- A Wreck-It Ralph sequel was announced for March 9, 2018.
- In light of that news, WDA's Gigantic has been bumped to the November 2018 slot.
- Once again, I've removed the latest releases (including BFG, which opens tonight.)
