But if I had to choose just one, I think it'd be The Innocents (1961).

I know! It's terrible, isn't it? Such a crying shame that's it's mostly unknown. Are there ghosts or is the governess mentally unstable? ;)

Oh hush, the mentally handicapped child inside of me loves it. The directors cut actually isn't that bad. And besides, it's not like I own the special edtion DVD, both the sountracks and movie poster. That would be crrrazy.

My favorite movie:

2001: A Space Odyssey

2001's one of those movies I watched as a kid, didn't understand and therefore did not like. I have to give it another go one of these days.

Little bit of both, I always thought. The Turn of the Screw is one of my favortie stories, and this was the best adaptation of it I've ever seen. Kerr's great.

More movie favorites, because I know you all care:

Airplane
Hair
Quigley Down Under
Company of Wolves
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Cherish
Midnight Lace
Clue
Silence of the Lambs
Deep Rising
Nosferatu
Heathers
The Hitcher (1986)
8 femmes
Tombstone
Willow
Goonies
Mulholland Drive
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Saving Private Benjamin
The Haunting (1963!)
Serial Mom (I few years back I probably would've posted more John Waters, but that's the only one I really watch anymore. All of his post Serial Mom work has been subpar--I feel like he's trying too hard to shock an already jaded audience.)

Yes, and YES. I can't believe I forgot those two.

Make 2001 priority. It's all kinds of love.

And John Waters is a god among men. The Apostle of Filth; the first cumming of our savior.

My professor works for him. I once got kicked out of a bar hoping to meet John. My professor snuck me in... damn being 19. Fortunately John wasn't there anyway so no great loss.

Blatantly untrue. Stretch your mind every once and awhile. All films aren't like Transformers.

...and thank god for that.

The final scene and the meaning of the monolith are left to the viewer's interpretation and I've decided to leave it at that. Oh and I haven't seen Transformers. About your opinion, am I deaf or were you trying to develop a sense of humor?

The novel certainly makes it explicitly clear what the meaning of the monolith is.

That said, there's not too many interpretations left open to the viewer. A little deductive reasoning makes its purpose clear enough, I think.
