Indy vs Batman?

It sounds like it's 1989 once more. It's the rematch we've been waiting for...

Or, you can go to:

This is what the latter says:
Batman: Intimidation (2005)
Release Date: July 4th, 2005 (wide)

Release Date Note: (9/29/03) I've received word from an anonymous but reliable source that Warner Bros. is aiming for one of the biggest dates of 2005: Independence Day, July 4th. July 4th is a Monday in 2005, but this is one of those holidays (like Christmas Day), where studios often release movies regardless of the day of the week. This decision puts them head-to-head with one of the *other* highly-anticipated movies of 2005, Indiana Jones 4. Now, historically, we don't normally see two such high-profile films open on the same day, so ultimately, the odds are that someone will flinch (for example, one of them could just open a week earlier in late June). Who will make the first move now that the game is on?

I'm putting my money of a diffrent release date for Jones4. Like the next year.

Next year? Have they filmed anything yet, though?

EDIT: Eh, never mind. I see you said "the next year," which would mean 2006. Yep, you may be right.

I wouldn't mind: just make it good, I say...we have a whole lifetime to watch it over and over again.

2006 is very realistic. But...who knows, maybe they will jump the gun and release it early some (that would be fine too, as long as its good).

Remember though, the extra year would basically be only post production. They already have the filming schedule worked out, and actors and directors will have other movies to tape.

Edit: typos

The last Indy film was in 1989. The last Batman was 1997.

Batman should move up to early June.

Wouldn't the movie that makes the move back get more money? People will go to the first big flick, then not want to go to another movie right away.

So it'd be better that IJ4 moves up... its not like backing up is admitting inferiority.

Indiana Jones IV will move for no movie. It doesn't have to, it would beat out Batman without hesitation. If you're going to see Indy, you won't change your mind because you saw Batman the week earlier, and vice versa. Heck, I'd even go see them both in the same night if they had a same-day release. I've done it before.

Hmmm, Jones AND Batman on the same screen.

Theft as the Metropolis museum, The Bat helps out Jones...

.... nah!

Sheesh... that's almost as bad as one of MY ideas!

well considering both are fake, it would be Harrison Ford vs. Michael Keaton(**** Val Kilmer and Clooney, they sucked). I'd put my money on Ford

Now, there?s this issue about West VS Keaton? Keaton was about as close as I?ve ever seen to the Dark Knight in the comic books.

Hay dont forget Rob Lowery. He did BatMan in 49 and he gave it quite a dark feel, or it mite be becous it was black & wite, I dont no.

Being quite a Batphile myself, I'll not even comment on the 60's tripe. 'Abomination' doesn't cover it. Put West in a drainpipe with Killer Croc and you'd have nothin left but corn chowder. (Guess I'll comment after all!)

As for Keaton, he WAS Batman. Edgy, dark...very Batman: Year One. I don't believe I've seen an actor who could portray the intensity of a fully matured Dark Knight Detective.

I love Indy, but come on...Bruce Wayne is a walking weapon. The man has lived in a state of perpetual combat his entire adult life. He lives in such a Nietzchean state of self-honing...Indy's good, but in a full-blown brawl, The Bat has the upper hand by several miles.

But there's always the issue of the fedora...

I kinda liked the campy version...naturally, I'd be ashamed to have been the creator of it, but it was somewhat enjoyable.

Of course, you all know that my personal literary and cinematic tastes do lean towards the Michael Keaton films, however.

I didn't read all the posting, and this is my first post on this topic, so if I repeat something or say something that has been proven right or wrong already, realize what I stated above.

I don't understand how anyone could fathom Batman beating out Indy IV. That's like saying that Rocky VI will beat out Indy IV or something. As to who should move: I agree, it would be cool if one moved so the Indy film would earn more money, because there are those out there who will innevtibaly be Batman freaks as much as we are Indy freaks and will go and see Batman. Who should move? I don't care. All I know is that Indy IV will be done, and I'm happy. When? If it's sooner, then great. If it's later, then I'll appreciate seeing it that much more.

If the new Batman has a trailer that makes it look better than the first two films, it will be big. There hasn't been a Batman movie in a while.

I will see them both. I grew up with both Indiana Jones and Batman. I really don't think they'll open opposite each other, but if they do, I'll probably see them both on the same day.

Also, when Indy 4 comes out, are you guys gonna wait to see it at night, or go and see it first thing in the morning because you HAVE to see it?
