Spalko's brass belt buckle is of the style first introduced during the Second World War for cadets at the Suvorov Military Schools. The design was later adopted for use by regular Soviet army units, and used for many years.
Hence there were millions of them made. The belts were a vinyl-like material imitating leather.
I bought five buckles cheaply on Ebay last year. Kept two and sold the rest. Belts are a nuisance to display unless you're playing dress-up, or have a mannequin to dress up.
