I'm surprised the Department of Homeland Security hasn't approached him yet.

(He's got to be acting out some sort of Borat-type movie, there's no other logical explantion for it, especially if Casey Affleck is following him with a camera)

He was awesome as Johnny Cash in Walk the Line.

Russell Crowe in Romper Stomper:

Sure, I saw Stomper when it came out, so this was before Crowe was a household name. But at the time, I remember telling a friend after the movie I had to remind myself that it was fiction. His performance can only be described as visceral. Not really impressed with him anymore, though.

I think Geoffrey Rush is phenomenal as Peter Sellers. Peter Sellers as Peter Sellers isn't too bad either, though.

Also: John Malkovich really is that bald guy in that one Spike Jonze film. It's incredible.

There are a lot of brilliant vanishing acts on tv these days. So I just have to give an honorable mention to Hugh Laurie's Greg House.

I think Christopher Lloyd is another one. I have a hard time thinking of the Judge from Who Framed Roger Rabbit as the same actor that played the Professor in Back to the Future.

And then there's Donovan at the end of Last Crus--Oh wait, that wasn't him.

I just watched the DVD of "Australia" and Nicole Kidman seems to
enter her role of the stuck-up Lady Ashley very well.

Great thread - here are some actors/actresses who truly dissapeared into their roles:

DeNiro as "Travis Bickle" in "Taxi Driver".

Will Smith in "Ali".

Charlize Theron in "Monster".

Clarence Boddicker...one of cinema's greatest villains. Truly sadistic, hissable bastard that you can't help loving by film's end because of his monstrous enthusiasm. Terrific. One of the best performances ever.

"Can you fly, Bobby?"

"C'mon, guys, lend the man a hand!"

"Ooh, guns, guns, guns! C'mon fellas! The Tigers are playin' tonight!!!"

"Just give me my ****ing phone call."

"Look at my face, Dick! He was gonna kill me!"

"Sayonara, RoboCop! GGGGGLLLLPPPPRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Whenever I think of RoboCop, the first thing that pops into my mind is:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tjEdLuqK1RQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tjEdLuqK1RQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"Don't touch me man!"(y)

I always get a kick out of the look on Ray Wise's face in that scene. :D
